TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers open the state American Legion baseball tournament this afternoon in Casper they face Laramie at 12:30.
The state tournament is split into two, four team brackets with the "A" including the Troopers along with Cody, Laramie and Wheatland.
The "AA" bracket has Rock Springs, Cheyenne, Gillette and Casper.
The winners from each bracket will play in a final game to determine an overall champ and those two team will represent Wyoming the "A" and "AA" Northwest regional tournaments.
The Troopers are the number one seed in the "A" bracket Head coach Ben Phillips says they are treating each game the same and know that they have to play even better this week.
And he says even though the troops might be the favorite they can't go in over confident.
Again they open the tournament at 12:30 against Laramie. the other single "A" game has Wheatland playing Cody that game will lead off the tournament at 9:30.
The "AA" bracket has Rock Springs playing Cheyenne and Gillette takes on Casper.
Both state champs will play at their respective Northwest regional tournaments, the "AA" teams play in billings and the "A" regional will be played in Burley, Idaho.
BRONC FOOTBALL - The football season for the Sheridan Broncs starts Monday morning. The annual Bronc player / parent meeting will take place Saturday at 4:00 in the Sheridan high school auditorium.
The first practice for freshmen through seniors will start at 7:00 Monday morning.
TENNIS - Sheridan high school tennis coach Bob Farout has announced the first tennis practice for the Broncs and Lady Broncs will be Monday the 13th at 4:00 at the SHS tennis courts.
SWIMMING - Sheridan high school swimming coach Brent Moore has announced the Lady Broncs will open preseason practice Monday morning August 13th at 6:00.
SHS BOOSTER CLUB - On Saturday august 18th the SHS booster club will host their shootout golf scramble noon at the Powder Horn, it's a four person team scramble.
On August 22nd the booster club will host the annual fall BBQ 5:30 pm at high school followed by fall sports parent meeting at 7 pm in auditorium.
