TROOPERS OPEN 2012 FRIDAY NIGHT

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers open the baseball season tomorrow night at Thorne-Rider stadium.

hey will play a single nine inning game with Casper the first pitch will be tossed out at 7:00.

The Troops host a double header Sunday with the Powell Pioneers the first game will start at 1:00 and we will be broadcasting it live on 14-10 KWYO.

The Troopers entered their 7th week of practice this week and Head coach Ben Phillips says they are ready to see a live opponent.

They have three games in three days to start the season and Phillips says the pitching staff will get plenty of time on the mound.

And he says with the number of returning players back he expects the Troops to play well this week.

TRACK AND FIELD REGIONALS - Regional track meets start tomorrow at various sites around the state. All of our Sheridan county teams will be competing at their Regionals in Cheyenne as the 1-A, 2-A and 4-A regional is combined into one big meet.

The all-class Wyoming state high school track and field championships begin Thursday, May 17th in at Kelly Walsh high school in Casper.

REGIONAL SOCCER - The Sheridan high school soccer teams open regional tournament play tomorrow. The Lady Broncs will open their tournament in Laramie and will play against the winner of today's match between Gillette and Cheyenne East.

The Broncs will play tomorrow evening in the semi finals against the winner of today's match between Cheyenne East and Gillette.

The boys regional is being played at Sheridan high school there will be two games each day at 4:00 and 6:00 today and tomorrow.

The 4:00 match this afternoon has Cheyenne Central facing Cheyenne South, the game at 6:00 will have Gillette against Cheyenne East.

Saturday's matches are for seeding the teams for the state tournament the consolation match will be played at 10:00 with the championship match will at noon.

The state soccer championships get underway at the Big horn Equestrian center next Thursday.

ROCKIES - The Colorado Rockies ended their five game losing streak by beating San Diego yesterday 6-2 they are off today and open a weekend series tomorrow night in Los Angeles.
