TROOPERS FALL TO GILLETTE / OPEN A TOURNAMENT IN CHEYENNE TOMORROW

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers dropped their conference game 9-5 against Gillette Tuesday night.

It was a strange game with the teams combine for 36 strike outs, trooper pitchers struck out 19 Gillette batters but gave up nine runs with walks, errors and Gillette's timely hitting did the Troopers in Head coach Ben Phillips.

The game didn't have much flow because most the the pitcher's went deep into the count on almost every batter and Phillips says 17 Troopers struck out several times with runners in scoring position.

Now the Troops head to a tournament in Cheyenne starting tomorrow and Phillips says the pitching staff has got to start coming through. They open the tournament tomorrow with Wheatland.
