AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are 8-23 overall after dropping a 9-5 game at Rapid City Post #320 last night. The Troops took the lead scoring three runs in the first inning but couldn't hold the lead starting pitcher Ben Buckingham was saddled with the loss.
Next up for the Troopers is a conference double header Tuesday at home against the Casper Oilers. Wyoming American Legion baseball went to a District tournament format last summer for teams to qualify for the state tournament and that is a month away.
Troops Head coach Ben Phillips says conference games are used for District tournament seeding these games coming up with Casper mean a lot.
And with a month of games left before the post season begins they have a lot of work to get done to be in good form.
Again the Troopers next home games will be Tuesday night against the Casper Oilers at Thorne-Rider stadium the first game will begin at 5:00.
SHERIDAN JETS - The Sheridan Jets will get back into action at home tonight when they host two with Newcastle beginning at 5:00.
LOCAL GOLF - Time is running out to enter the annual Moe Martini Memorial golf tournament Sunday at the Sheridan country club.
Players register as singles and the tournament committee will then make up the teams for the tournament from a blind draw. The tournament is a four person team scramble and will shot gun at 9:00 Sunday morning.
Proceeds from the tournament goes to the Sheridan County Liquor Dealers scholarship program
MORE LOCAL GOLF - The Sheridan dog and cat shelter hosts their annual fund raising golf tournament today at the Powder Horn and next month the Sheridan high school booster club will host their first fund raising golf tournament at the Powder Horn. The tournament will be played on July 30th.
