Local Track, Soccer back in action this weekend / Spring Tennis, Golf and American Legion baseball go next week

BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers and Jets open spring training Monday, for the last six plus weeks several players have taken advantage of getting work outs done inside at Thorne-Rider park.

Head coach Ben Phillips says if they get the field dried out they will hit the ground running outside next week.

The Jets open their season with a home and home double header with the Billings Halos April 16th and 17th the Troops will open at home April 30th against Rapid City Post 22.

Sheridan Troopers right on schedule to open spring training officially Monday / Local track, soccer, tennis and golf spring season resume on the weekend

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers and Jets baseball teams open spring training Monday, yesterday we stopped by their indoor training facility Head coach Ben Phillips says they are way ahead of schedule especially with the pitching staff.

And he says the batting and fielding ground balls and fly balls will come over the next month.

And with a winter storm coming in it shows how valuable the indoor facility is for their preseason prep.

SD #2 on Spring Break Hiatus, season resumes this weekend

BRONC / LADY BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan high school soccer teams had a good opening to the 2016 season last week as they posted shutout victories against Riverton. This week is spring break for SD #2 they will resume their schedule at a two day jamboree in Casper Friday and Saturday with games against Casper Kelly Walsh, Evanston and Natrona county.

April 8th and 9th conference play begins with the Broncs hosting Cheyenne South and Laramie the Lady Broncs will play at the Bison and Plainsmen.

Bronc / Lady Bronc Soccer open with shutout victories / Spring Break begins for school district two

BRONC / LADY BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan high school soccer teams had a good opening to the 2016 season Thursday night as the Broncs and Lady Broncs posted shutout victories against Riverton.

The Broncs went on the road and beat the Wolverines 3-0 while the Lady Broncs blasted Riverton 10-0 at Sheridan high school Robbie Ryan scored six times in the blowout, Lady Broncs Head coach Mallery Marshall says they did exactly what they needed to do in the opener. Both teams are off until next weekend.

SHS Track competition canceled in Casper today / Bronc / Lady Bronc soccer open today

TRACK AND FIELD - The Bronc and Lady Bronc track teams had their scheduled meet in Casper today canceled because of the spring snow storm that hit yesterday officials in Casper have rescheduled the event for April 15th.

They now head into their spring break the next competition will be at the "Jerry Campbell" invitational in Buffalo April 2nd.

BRONC / LADY BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan high school soccer teams begin play this evening with games against Riverton the Broncs will play on the road the Lady Broncs host the Wolverines. The JV's go at 4:00 the varsity match will start at 6:00.

Bronc / Lady Bronc track at Casper Thursday / SHS Soccer opening day is tomorrow / Update on the new locker room and training facility at SHS

BRONC / LADY BRONC TRACK AND FIELD - The Bronc and Lady Bronc track teams have their next meet in Casper tomorrow.

Head coach Taylor Keltting says the performance at the first meet was outstanding.

And he says with their next meet tomorrow in Casper they are right on schedule to have a very good season.

SC Generals Rodeo results

The Sheridan College Generals Rodeo team competed in Gillette this past weekend where the women’s team placed second and the men’s team had some success.

The Generals women’s team was led by Callie Robinson from Moorcroft, WY Callie won the long round in the breakaway roping with a time of 2.4 seconds. The breakaway was very fast with a difference of 6/10ths of a second from first to 10th place. Callie split the win in the short round with another fast time of 2.4 seconds which gave her the average win. This win moved Callie to 2nd place in the region.

Larry Shyatt leaves the Wyoming basketball program / Troopers set to begin spring training / Springs sports resume schedule Thursday

SHYATT RESIGNS AS THE COWBOYS BASKETBALL COACH - After five seasons and one Mountain West conference tournament championship and an NCAA tournament appearance University of Wyoming basketball Head coach Larry Shyatt stepped down Monday, Assistant coach Allen Edwards was named as the next Cowboy Head coach.

At the news conference Wyoming Athletic Director Tom Burman opened the event thanking Shyatt for his service to the University.
