Spring Sports begin post season action Thursday and Friday

SHS - The 2014 spring sports season ends with state track and soccer next week, we visit today with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian.

Sheridan high school competes in Wyoming highest division while being one of the smaller schools in the league and has done so for many years and racking up several state titles.

A few weeks ago stories came out in a few state wide newspapers about some with the idea the University of Wyoming football program should drop out of division one to be more competitive, the UW athletic department at the university said wasn't going to happen.

Some Wyoming high school football teams are forced to drop down divisions in most cases because of numbers but some have drop down because they feel they can't compete, Julian says that's is a mentality we can't have in Sheridan.

Looking ahead during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years Sheridan will be hosting several post season events.

These events are not only good for our local teams and fans but provide a nice boost to local businesses as well.

SOCCER - The Bronc and Lady Bronc soccer teams head to their regional tournament in Gillette. The Broncs open the first round tomorrow with Cheyenne East in a loser out match at 5:30.

The Lady Broncs have a first round bye, they play in the semi finals Friday.

TRACK - High school track and field regional meets begin Friday, the 4-A east will be in Cheyenne, the 1-A and 2-A East regional will be in Torrington.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are schedule to play two road double headers this weekend. They will play at Rapid City Post #320 Saturday and two in Powell Sunday.

The next home date for the Troops will be Thursday, May 29th in a double header with Douglas.

ROCKIES BASEBALL - The Colorado Rockies lost 5-1 at Kansas City Tuesday night.

They wrap up the series this afternoon the first pitch will be tossed out at 12:10 on 87.7 FM ESPN radio.
