2012 WYOMING SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE BIOS

Four individuals and a set of brothers are among the 11th class of inductees into the Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. June 23 at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in Casper. Cocktails and a silent auction start at 5 p.m.

The newest class includes former University of Wyoming football standouts Casey Bramlet of Wheatland and David Edeen of Cheyenne; multi-state standout and coach Bruce Collins of Rock Springs; long-time Rawlins High volleyball coach Sandy Jebens and brothers Ben and Blaine Phillips of Sheridan.

2011-12 SHS ATHLETICS - The 2011-12 high school sports season closed over the weekend and we had a chance to sit down and talk with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian about this past season.

He says the year will go down as maybe the best year ever for Sheridan high school varsity athletics.

Not only were there several successes on the field this past season but the students also did the job in the classroom.

CSU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH RYUN WILLIAMS

Former Gillette high school and Sheridan college basketball standout Ryun Williams is the new women's basketball coach at Colorado State.

Williams played two years at Sheridan college and moved onto the University of South Dakota to finish off his playing career.

He came back to Sheridan college as the volleyball coach and then took over the Lady Generals basketball program his teams went 54-38 in three years before he moved onto Wayne state in Nebraska for ten seasons.

2012 HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER - The Bronc and Lady Bronc soccer teams had to settle for runner up finishes at the state tournament but 2012 will go down as one of the best season's for soccer in Sheridan high school history.

The Lady Broncs final record was 18-3-2 the broncs went 18-4-1 both won the east conference title and both took the titles in the conference tournaments as well.

Lady Bronc Head coach Tom Racette says the senior class led the way for the last three season's to get the program back to contending for state titles.

STATE SOCCER - The Bronc and Lady Bronc soccer teams had to settle for runner up finishes.

Cheyenne Central was awarded a penalty kick in the first half against the Lady Broncs, that goal would hold up and Central would win the state title 1-0.

After the loss Head coach Tom Racette. And he says even though they were second the season was one of the best in the program's history.

The Lady Broncs finished the season with a school record 16 wins.

High School Soccer, Track Wrap Up Seasons At State

Both the high school soccer and track and field seasons wrapped up this past weekend at their State Championship events.

The Bison and Lady Bison soccer teams were at the Big Horn Equestrian Center and finished fourth and second respectively.

The boys opened Thursday with a win over Cody 3-2, then fell to Jackson 2-0 Friday and finished their season with a 4-1 loss to Lander on Saturday to take fourth at State.
Jackson took the State Title, Worland was second and Lander third.

BRONCS / LADY BRONCS SETTLE FOR RUNNER UP SOCCER FINISHES

The Sheridan high school soccer teams both suffered heart breaking losses Saturday in the 4-A state championship soccer matches.

Cheyenne Central beat the Lady Broncs 1-0 in the girls championship match.The game's only goal came on a penalty kick in the first half.

It was the best season on record for the Lady Bronc program as they recorded a team record 16 victories.

The Broncs and Casper Kelly Walsh played to a scoreless tie and also two scoreless overtime periods and the title came down to penalty kicks.
