Grabau and Wyoming Down #5 San Diego State, 68-62

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 11, 2014) – Junior guard Riley Grabau posted 17 points and junior forward Larry Nance Jr. chipped in 14 to guide the University of Wyoming men’s basketball team to a thrilling 68-62 upset of No. 5 San Diego State on Tuesday night in the Arena-Auditorium.

The Cowboys (15-9, 6-5 MW) earned their first upset of a top-five opponent since 1998, while breaking a 20-game winning streak for the Aztecs (21-2, 10-1 MW).

SC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college basketball teams play at Northwest college in Powell tomorrow night.

The Generals have recovered from a two game losing streak two weeks ago and have won four in a row, Head coach Steve Smiley says the players did a nice job of shaking off two bad performances.

The regular season closes out in two weeks with just three games left on the schedule.

Sheridan High School soccer standout Drew Dafoe signs with SC

Sheridan High School senior soccer standout Drew Dafoe signed Friday her National Letter of Intent to join the Sheridan College women’s soccer team this fall.
Dafoe penned her letter at SC, with family, SHS coaches, future teammates and SC head soccer coach Stefan Skillman all in attendance.

“We are very happy to bring in a student-athlete from Sheridan,” Skillman said. “It will bring a lot of quality to the team. And that’s the key attribute, to bring in quality players from the area.”

Weekend Local Sports Wrap Up

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan high school basketball teams split with Gillette Friday night.

The Lady Broncs broke open a tight game late and beat the Camels 55-45, Robbi Ryan scored 14 points in the victory.

Productive Weekend For Jo Co HS Sports Teams

High School athletes from Buffalo and Kaycee High Schools had productive weekends, earning at least splits or taking all of their games this past weekend.

The Bison boys' basketball team defeated Worland 89-62 on Thursday and beat Glenrock 66-45 on Saturday.
They now sit at 7-2 in conference and 11-6 overall.

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan high school basketball teams played Gillette Friday night.

The Lady Broncs broke open a tight game late and beat the Camels 55-45, Robbi Ryan scored 14 points in the victory.

The boys games was close into the 4th quarter but Gillette pulled away and beat the Broncs 72-62. Reed Ritterbusch led the Broncs with 24 points.

Both teams continue league play next week with games against Laramie and Cheyenne South.
