The Lady Broncs freshmen played in their state tournament Saturday, October 19th, in Cheyenne. The Lady Broncs went into the tournament as the number 2 seed from the north. The played the number 3 seed from the south, Rock Springs. Sheridan won the first set easily, lost the second set, and won the third set to advance to the semifinals where they would play Gillette.
They won this in straight sets to advance to the championship match. They would end up playing the number one seed, Kelly Walsh.
Kelly Walsh had only lost once all year, and that was early to the Lady Broncs. The Lady Broncs saved their best for last.
They played a dominating first set, winning 25-18. Kelly Walsh seemed to have command of the second set, leading 20-15, but the Lady Broncs would go on a 10-3 run to win in exciting style, 25-23, to win the state championship. They finished the season with an overall 20-4 record.
