The Wyoming State High School Hockey Tournament was held this weekend in Casper the Sheridan Hawks took 4th.
The first game found the Hawks victorious over the Riverton River Rats with a score of 6-3. Joe Zigmont scored a hat trick, Shawn Konetzki scored two goals and JP Culhane scored a single goal.
Next the Hawks took on Pinedale the number one seed in the tournament. The game was much closer than the score as they battled to a 5-1 loss with the lone goal coming from Hagen Daniels with an assist from Cody Wills.
In the consolation game the the Hawks took on the Douglas Ice Cats for 3rd and 4th place. It was a very exciting game as Douglas took the lead early in the first period with 3 goals.
The Hawks saw their first goal of the game during the second period with an unassisted short handed goal from Joe Zigmont. The Douglas Ice Cats Scored once again in the middle of the third period.
The continued to fight their way back into the game. With only 2:50 to go JP Culhane scored with an assist from Joe Zigmont to put the game at 2-4. 46 seconds left in the game and Shawn Konetzki with an assist from Lane Barten puts one in between the goal posts. With little hope left to tie the game, Lane Barten scores off an assist from Joe Zigmont with 14 seconds remaining the Hawks send the game into overtime.
At the end of overtime the score remained tied and the game went into a shoot out. Douglas won the shootout to take third place.
