Sheridan Hawks High School Hockey Team Sweeps Season Opener

SHERIDAN, WY—The Sheridan Hawks High School team earned their first two wins for the 2013-14 season at home besting the Rock Springs Miners 7 to 3 on Saturday afternoon and 11 to 3 on Sunday morning. Seven different players scored goals in the first game outshooting Rock Springs 43 to 29, with multiple players getting two points including Barak Broad, Logan Churchill, Jess Edens, Logan Garstad, and Thomas Moore.

In Sundays win, seven different players scored 11 goals and outshot the Miners 57 to 29 with Logan Garstad leading in points with 2 goals and 3 assists, followed by Lane Barten with three goals (Hat trick), Jess Edens with one goal and two assists, and Riley Simons with two goals.

“This was a great way for us to start the season, especially in front of our home town fans. We had scoring from seven different players each game which really shows with have some depth to the lineup and that we have scoring threats on each line.

We will use these wins to build our confidence as we face a tough opponent in Gillette next weekend”, stated Head Coach Zane Garstad.
