Five Sheridan Ice Figure Skaters competed at the 6th Annual Black Hills Gold Rush figure skating competition on Saturday, February 19 and Sunday February 20 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Kairstyn Holden (age 9) won 3 first place medals and 1 second place medal in Basic 6 level events
Katelyn Kayser (age 11) won 1 second place medal and 1 third place medal in Beginner level events.
Catherine Winnop (age 13) won 3 first place medals in Basic 8 level events.
Elizabeth Winnop (age 14) won 3 first place medals in Limited Beginner events.
Jessie Pattison (age 17) won 3 first place medals and 1 second place medal in in Freestyle 5 and Preliminary level events.
The Sheridan girls competed with approximately 90 other skaters from Gillette, Casper, Laramie, Wyoming and and Rapid City and Pierre, South Dakota.
This is the fifth year that Sheridan skaters have participated in the Gold Rush.
Sunday’s event included a team competition with Sheridan earned 4th place.
The next scheduled event for the Sheridan Ice Figure Skaters is the 18th Annual Figure Skating Club of Billings Competition in on February 25 and 26.
Six skaters will be attending that competition. In addition to Jessica Ross – age 13 will be skating for the Sheridan team.
2nd Annual Sheridan Ice Show
The Sheridan Ice figure skaters will be performing programs from these competitions for the hometown crowd at the 2nd Annual Sheridan Ice Show Wednesday, March 2 from 6-7 pm at the Sheridan Ice Rink. The public is invited and there is no charge to attend.
