Sheridan College hires men’s soccer coach

Sheridan College has hired Jeff Hallenbeck as its new men’s head soccer coach.

Hallenbeck, originating from Quincy, Mass., has served as a soccer coach at soccer camps for more than 20 years. He comes to Sheridan College following a four-year stint as the head boys’ soccer coach at Medway High School in Medway, Mass.

Hallenbeck has guided his prep teams to several championships in the last decade and was named the 2013 Boston Globe State Division III Coach of the Year.

Hallenbeck holds myriad coaching honors and certificates, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in movement arts and physical education from Eastern Nazarene (Mass.) College and a Master of Science in educational administration from the University of Scranton (Pa.).

Athletic Director Steve Smiley had this to say about the hiring: “We’re thrilled to get a coach of Jeff’s caliber to lead our Men’s Soccer Program into the future. There is a lot of excitement and momentum based off of last year’s inaugural season, and we truly believe Jeff will keep the momentum going as we focus on becoming more competitive in Region 9 and on a national scale. Jeff will start immediately, and will begin to build for next fall’s season.”
