The Sheridan College Women's Soccer team just finished up a four week clinic with the YMCA.
Coach Stefan said "The clinic was a great start to prepare these kids for there upcoming seasons this spring" he went on to note that "we had over 50 kids participate ranging from 5th through 8th grade."
Each week the players worked on improving and learning various turns and skills along with passing technique.
The emphasis of the clinic was on playing various forms of 1v1 and 4v4 soccer to challenge the players. Freshman Baylee Baker (Sheridan WY) stated that "it was amazing to see how the players learned new skills which were eventually being used more and more in the games".
Throughout the clinic, the SC Women's Soccer players lead activities, and instructed and participated in the games. Emily Boehm, Freshmen (Canon City, CO) talked about "how it was humbling to know that someone is looking up to you and seeking your guidance throughout every activity."
The SC Women were coaching and encouraging the players as they were learning new skills and techniques. "As we tried to teach and help the players learn, they were teaching us how to coach, which is totally different than being coached" Mackenzie Muir, Freshman (Broomfield, CO).
Multiple players commented on how it was enjoyable to see the YMCA players' enthusiasm and their love for playing soccer. The SC Women's Soccer team wants to thank the Sheridan YMCA for the opportunity to do this clinic.
It was such a fun time and the players all had great attitudes and a hunger to learn. We hope to do this clinic next year and we want to tell the players to have fun in your upcoming spring season.
