The Generals volleyball coaching staff would like to introduce the recruiting class of 2013 that will be joining Sheridan College this upcoming fall. With just five returners from this year’s team, the Generals have added nine freshman to National Letters of Intent for the 2013 campaign.
The Generals will be led by sophomores Britney Titensor (All-Region), Carley Gerving, Kaitlyn Englert, Kaylin Edwards, and Tessa Woods as they look to go after a Region IX Conference Title with the help of these talented newcomers:
Tyler Chrisman – 6’1” – Middle Hitter – Sterling, CO – Dental Hygiene
Tyler Chrisman will join the Generals next fall after a tremendous career at Sterling High School in Sterling, Colorado. The 6’1” middle hitter was a six rotation standout for the Tigers as she tallied 251 kills, 79 blocks, and 242 digs during her senior season. Chrisman finished the season with a .215 hitting percentage as she helped lead her team to the Colorado State Volleyball Tournament. Chrisman plans to major in dental hygiene during her time with the Generals.
Brenna Hanson – 5’10” – Outside Hitter – Broadus, MT – Dental Hygiene
The Generals also announce the addition of Brenna Hansen, a 5’10” outside hitter from Broadus, MT. Hansen was a standout six rotation player for Powder River High School where she led the team in kills and digs during her senior season. Hansen was also a front-runner in both categories as she led Class 3B in kills averaging just under four kills per set and was the runner-up in total digs averaging over four per set.
Hannah Casebolt – 5’7” – Setter – Fort Collins, CO – Pre-Law
Hannah Casebolt will join the Sheridan Generals next fall after graduating from Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, CO. The 5’7” senior was a setter for NORCO Volleyball Club and has experience in both as a setter as a defensive specialist, which she played at Fossil Ridge. Casebolt plans to pursue a pre-law degree while at Sheridan College.
Sam Schroefel – 5’6” – Setter – Buffalo, WY - Psychology
Schroefel joins the Generals after a great high school career at Buffalo High School. The three year varsity letter winner also held a two-year captaincy for the Bison. The 5’6” setter earned All-Conference recognition as both a junior and senior. Schroefel makes up for what she lacks in size with her athleticism and jumping ability which allowed her to be recognized as the Block Leader for the Bison to go along with her Assist Leader and Most Valuable Player awards.
Hannah Jernigan – 6’1” – Middle Hitter – Cheyenne, WY - Biology
Hannah Jernigan joins the Generals depth chart as a 6’1” middle hitter who adds lateral quickness and size to the Sheridan College front row. Hannah earned recognition as a two-time All-Conference selection and this past year was awarded with 1st Team All-State honors. Hannah also brings valuable leadership to the program as she was designated Team Captain in 2012 and helped lead the team to its best finish in recent history.
Paige Jernigan – 6’0” – Rightside Hitter – Cheyenne, WY - Biology
Although she stands an inch below her twin sister, Paige Jernigan will also have an immense and immediate impact on the complexion of the Generals roster next fall. The 6’0” rightside hitter brings great length and blocking ability against the outside hitter dominant Region IX Conference. Paige earned All-Conference honorable mention honors in 2011 was a three year letter winner for the Indians volleyball program.
Shai Schaefer – 5’9” – Outside Hitter – Torrington, WY – Elementary Education
Schaefer joins the Sheridan College Generals after a record breaking career as a Blazer for Torrington High School. The 5’9” outside hitter tallied 1,466 career kills in her four years of varsity volleyball with a season high of 469 kills during her senior season this past fall. Schaefer also led her team in total digs through three of her four seasons recording a career total of 1,246 digs with a season high of 396 as sophomore. Schaefer also led her team in blocks through all four seasons with THS with a total of 280 on her resume.
Jill Espeland – 5’3” – DS/Libero – Douglas, WY – Undecided
Espeland will join the Generals after an outstanding career at Douglas High School under head coach Angela Rhoades. The 5’3” libero was a catalyst for her team’s success over the past three seasons, helping the Bearcats to an 81-18 record while leading her team in digs and serve receive in every single match since her sophomore season. Espeland recorded a career total of 1,772 digs with a season high of 760 to lead Wyoming 3A this past fall.
Cori Krook – 5’8” – DS/Libero – Roberts, MT – Dental Hygiene
Krook will join Sheridan College after spending the last four seasons competing for the J-Hawks where she was named Team Captain during her last two seasons. The 5’8” outside hitter earned 2012 4B All-Conference recognition as a senior as well as Academic All-State honors. Krook also earned individual awards for her team as she was awarded Team MVP as a junior and named Top Hitter after she led her team in kills during her senior season.
