The weather was much better in Lamar, CO this weekend. The men’s team placed 2nd with 570 points, Casper’s men won the rodeo with 615 points.
The men’s team had 5 saddle bronc riders make it to the short round, 1 bareback rider, 1 bullrider, 1 tie down roper and 2 team ropers.
The men’s team moved back into 3rd position in the region after this weekend, they are only 330 points out of second and 420 points out of first.
Our men’s team was led by Taygen Schuelke who won the all-around with 220 points, he was 3rd in the long round in the saddle bronc riding, got bucked off in the short round and placed 4th in the average.
He was 3rd in the bullriding in the long round, won the short round and was second in the average. He is now 3rd in the region in the bullriding.
Taygen and team roping partner Lane Foster placed 10th in the long round, but missed in the short round.
Zeke Thurston was right behind Taygen in the all-around earning 210 points. He was 2nd in the long round in the saddle bronc riding with a 76 score, he won the short round with an 82 point ride and ended up 2nd in the average.
He placed 2nd in the long round in the tie down roping with a time of 11.2 seconds, but missed his calf in the short round. Zeke is still first in the region in the saddle bronc riding.
Tate Schwagler split 4th and 5th in the long round in the bareback riding, but was bucked off in the short round. Tate is currently splitting 6th in the region.
Dillon Barkshire split 6th place in the long round in the saddle bronc riding, and scored 75 points in the short round to place 3rd in the round and finish 3rd in the average. Dillon is currently 5th in the region in the saddle bronc riding.
Tayte Clark placed 5th in the long round with a score of 66 points in the saddle bronc riding, he was bucked off in the short round.
Kash Deal placed 4th in the long round in the saddle bronc riding with a score of 69 points, but he was also bucked off in the short round.
The Women’s team had a rough weekend with over half of the girls coming down with a severe cold, so they weren’t at their best when they competed this weekend, BUT,
Lexy Williams split 5th and 6th in the goat tying with a time of 8.3 seconds, she drew a kicking goat in the short round and was a long 9.1 seconds and didn’t place.
