SC RODEO RESULTS

The Sheridan College Rodeo Team finished up the season in Laramie this past weekend.

Zeke Thurston scored 77 points in the saddle bronc riding to win the long round. However, he missed his horse out in the short go, but placed 2nd in the average. There was only one qualified saddle bronc ride in the short round.

Dillon Barkshire placed 7th in the long round and Sutton Sandquist placed 8th, they both were bucked off in the short round and placed 7th and 8th respectively in the average. It was good to see 3 saddlle bronc riders qualify for the short go. Overall, Zeke was second in the region, Taygen Schuelke ended up 5th and Dillon Barkshire was 11th. All three of these young men are coming back next year.

Tate Schwagler and Shane Stevens both rode their bareback horses in the long round. Tate ended up 11th, not qualifying for the short go, but Shane ended up 2nd in the long round and got on a hard to ride horse in the short go, he placed 6th in the average.

Tate ended the year 7th and Shane was 10th overall. Both of these young men are coming back next year.

Jordan Moncks qualified for the short go in the bull riding, but didn’t get his bull rode in the short go. There were only 3 qualified rides in the long round. The bullriding was very tough, this weekend.

Taygen was fortunate to be wearing a helmet, he was hit in the head by a horn, it hit him hard enough to bend his face mask and cut his forehead. He was unable to compete in the saddle bronc riding because of the blow.

Taygen ended the year winning the region in the bullriding, CJ Davidson was 3rd in the region, Zach Scofield was 13th, Jordan Moncks was 15th and Dusty Benoit was 16th out of 40 bullriders.

Once again Cady Halverson qualified for the short go in the barrel racing, and improved her time in the short round. Cady has been riding her horse very consistently, she will be an asset on the team next year.

The men’s team ended the year 6th in the region and the women’s team placed 8th.

The season ended with 3 generals qualifying for the CNFR in June. Freshman Taygen Schuelke was the regional champion bull rider as well as the rookie all-around champion. CJ Davidson qualified for the CNFR in the bull riding in 3rd place.

Zeke Thurston is the reserve saddle bronc riding champion. These young men have represented Sheridan College well this year. Come join us in Casper, June 9-15 during the CNFR to support the Sheridan College Rodeo Team.
