BRONC FOOTBALL - Sheridan High School senior Austin Woodward learned Thursday that he has been named the Gatorade Football Player of the Year for the state of Wyoming. Woodward was a 3-year starter for the Broncs at Quarterback.
This year he led the Broncs to an 11-1 record and the State Championship last month. Over his football career at Sheridan high school, Woodward led the Broncs to a 24-7 record. This past season, he threw for over 1,800 yards and rushed for over a 1,000 yards, with 28 touchdowns; 15 TD passes; and 13 TD runs.
Woodward is a 2-time unanimous All-State selection and Super 25” team member. Currently, Woodward has started the basketball season with his teammates last night. He has not made a decision on where he will continue his career in college.
SHS BASKETBALL - The Broncs and Lady Broncs opened the basketball season last night against Green River. Both teams came away with big victories -- the Lady Broncs beat Green River 73-32 and the Broncs won 78-51.
Today the Lady Broncs host Billings West, while the Broncs play at West. Both varsity games are scheduled to get underway at 4:30, and we will broadcast the Broncs game live on AM 1410 KWYO.
GENERALS BASKETBALL– The Sheridan College Generals beat Lake Region, North Dakota 114-80 last night, while Gillette beat Western Nebraska in the "Holiday Inn" Tournament at the Hoffman Dome. Today, Gillette plays Lake Region at 3:00 and the Generals play WNCC at 5:00.
LADY GENERALS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan College Lady Generals are on the road this weekend -- they play at Williston, North Dakota tonight, and then travel to Glendive, Montana for a game tomorrow afternoon.
BH/TR BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams got wins against Burns last night. The Lady Rams won 47-31, while the Rams beat the Broncs 49-23. The Tongue River Eagles dropped their season opener to Kemmerer last night 61-31.
UW BASKETBALL - The Wyoming basketball team plays at home tonight. The Pokes host Loyola/Marymount -- that broadcast will follow the Broncs' game at Billings West at 6:30 on KWYO. You can also hear Cowboy basketball on our sister station 95.9 F.M
NFL - We will have Denver Broncos football live tomorrow. They play at Kansas City; it's an early broadcast, with start time slated for 10:00 on KWYO. Kick-off is set for 11:00.
