The Big Horn Rams won on the road Friday night by beating the Lovell Bulldogs, earning a spot in the 2A championship game Friday in Laramie. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there for the game and has the recap.
Big Horn trailed 6-0 early, as the Bulldogs scored on their opening possession. The Rams bounced back with 21 unanswered points before Lovell went on a run of their own, making the game 21-19 early in the 4th quarter. A couple of costly turnovers sealed the Bulldogs fate, as the Rams scored late in the 4th to put the game away and won by a final of 28-19.
Rams Head Coach Michael McGuire says that while it wasn't always a thing of beauty, the team stepped up when it mattered the most.
Quarterback Connor McCafferty threw for two touchdowns and running back Colter Carzoli rushed for two. Carzoli also had a key interception late in the game that ended the Bulldogs hopes for a comeback. McGuire stated that while it will be special for the kids to play at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, they are going down there to take care of business.
Big Horn will take on Mountain View, who beat Thermopolis 14-6 to advance to the championship game. This will be the Rams first trip back to the title game since they lost to Thermopolis in 2010. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on Friday in Laramie.
