Local Athletes Recieve All-Conference, All-State Awards

Wyopreps.com has released 1A and 2A All-Conference and All-State Teams, compiled by votes cast by the Wyoming Coaches Association, and a number of local kids from Northeast Wyoming were recognized.

Making it to the 1A East All-Conference Boys' Team from Midwest was Adam Van Norman and Chad Rinker. From Kaycee was Marcus Koch, Chase Gosney and Jordan Largent. From NSI was Jon Mason and Isaiah Valero.

The 1A NE Player of the Year was Adam Van Norman of Midwest.
Named to the All-State team from Northeast Wyoming was Adam Van Norman and Jon Mason.

Bison Open State With Loss to Star Valley

The Buffalo Bison basketball team took their #4 seed from the east into their opening game against #1 from the west Star Valley, falling to the Braves 67-49 today at Casper College.

Buffalo now falls into the consolation bracket where they will play Lander, after they lost their opening game to Wheatland 43-33.

The Buffalo/Lander consolation game will be Thursday at noon at the Casper Events Center, with the loser going home and the winner moving on to the Consolation Championship Game.

Buffalo Swim Club Competes At State Meet in Gillette

The Buffalo Swim Club took nineteen swimmers from Buffalo and traveled to Gillette this past weekend to compete in the Wyoming Winter A & B Short Course State Championships.

They brought home two State Champions and a number of other great finishes.

State Championships were won by Nate Holt in the Boys 15-16 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:09.99; and Gunnar Poley in the Boys 11-12 500 Freestyle in a time of 6:01.93 and in the Boys 11-12 200 Freestyle in a time of 2:10.62.

Kayla Woodward named All Mountain West

SPRING SPORTS - The 2012 high school spring sports season opened yesterday, the Bronc and Lady Bronc soccer season teams hit the field running on a beautiful afternoon coaches Tom Racette and Kevin Riser.

Lady Bronc Head coach Tom Racette says they have several players not in practice this week because of their commitment to the Lady Bronc basketball team as they get ready for their state tournament.

Racette says those girls will fit right into the soccer routine when they get back next week.

Bison Boys On To State, Kaycee Teams Stumble At State

Buffalo's boys' basketball team will travel to Casper Wednesday for the 3A State Basketball Tournament after finishing fourth at the Regional Tournament this past weekend.
Buffalo will face the #1 team from the west, Star Valley, at Casper College beginning at noon.
The Lady Bison opened their tournament with a loss to Rawlins and followed by beating Glenrock 49-35 in the consolation round before finally falling to Torrington 62-43 on Saturday. Their season is finished.

STATE / REGIONAL HOOPS SATURDAY RESULTS AND BROADCAST SCHEDULE

TR LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL - The Tongue River Lady Eagles lost 45-26 against Lovell in the girls 2-A basketball semi finals Friday night. They will play today at 10:30 against Wyoming Indian in the 3rd place game at Casper college. We will broadcast the game live on 95.9 FM.

BIG HORN BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Rams beat out Sundance Friday and earned the right to play in the consolation final. the rams held off the Bulldogs 49-43. The Rams will play the Burns Broncs at noon in the 2-A consolation final we will have that game for you live as well on 95.9 FM.

Johnson County HS Basketball Tournament Updates: Friday

Results from tournament action for the Buffalo and Kaycee basketball teams Friday:

At the 1A State Tournament in Casper, the Kaycee boys were eliminated By Lingle-Ft. Laramie 44-43.
The Kaycee Lady Bucs survive to play again tomorrow for third place after defeating Hulett today 46-31. They will play Lingle-Ft. Laramie for third place at 9am Saturday.
The Bison girls are also in the consolation bracket and they also survive Friday's game, beating Glenrock 49-35 to advance to the next round with their game at 11:30am Saturday.

The Lady Broncs lose to Laramie 33 to 42.
