GENERALS WRAP UP SIGNINGS FOR 2013-14 BASKETBALL SEASON

The Sheridan College Generals have added more depth to their back-court with the addition of Illinois standout, Preston Wells.

Wells, a 6’1 guard from Peoria Richwoods High School, averaged 15.7 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals a game this season while shooting 82% from the foul line and netting 74 3-point field goals on the season.

In his career at Richwoods, Wells drained 179 3’s, and scored over 1,000 points. For his on-court performance, Well received All-state IBCA and was twice voted first-team Mid-State in Illinois.

TROOPERS CONTINUE PLAY IN OMAHA / JETS DROP TWO SUNDAY

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are 1-4 at a tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, they opened with a victory over Northglenn, Colorado but have three losses against two other Colorado teams and one from Nebraska.

Today they finish up play in Omaha with two games before coming home for their next home date which will be Thursday night against the Billings Halos.

JETS BASEBALL - The Sheridan Jets dropped two to the Billings Halos yesterday Head coach Ryan Murner says his young players are starting to get together but still have a ways to go.

REC. DISTRICT ADULT SOFTBALL - The Sheridan Recreation District is two weeks into their adult summer softball season, weather has washed out several days but sports specialist Robbie Spencer says the teams have made the best of the situation and he appreciates everyone's understanding and they are using make up days to get caught up.

The league's both Co-rec and Men's are strong this year with the addition of several new teams.

TROOPERS IN OMAHA, NEBRASKA / WILD AND SCENIC TRAIL RUN OPENS FRIDAY / TWO WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL FB PLAYERS COMMIT TO COLLEGES

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are on their way to a tournament in Omaha, Nebraska they will play six games on the trip and will attend some of the College World Series action going on in Omaha at the same time.

The Troops will start play tomorrow with two games one against Lafayette, Colorado and the other will be against Creighton prep from Nebraska.

Saturday they have one game against Brighton, Colorado and Sunday they play Northglenn, Colorado and they will close out the tournament with a double header on Monday.

Rain washes out the Troopers

TROOPER BASEBALL - - The Sheridan Troopers and Gillette Roughriders were rained out at Thorne-Rider stadium Tuesday night a make up date will be announced later.

Heading into last night's rain out the Troops were off for a week Head coach Ben Phillips says the rest has been good but they all really wanted to play last night.

So far the weather has not been kind to baseball in our part of the state and Phillips says they all must battle through the frustration of missing so many games.

SC HOOP CAMPS BEGIN / TROOPERS AT THRONE-RIDER STADIUM TONIGHT

SC BASKETBALL CAMPS - Basketball camps began yesterday at Sheridan college Men's basketball coach Steve Smiley and players put the campers through their paces the camp concludes Thursday.

The Lady Generals basketball camp for girls K-8th grade will begin Monday the schedule will be each day from 9:00 to noon.

McCarthy says the focus on their camp is to instill a love of the game for young kids. And he says they make sure that each camper has a lot of fun as they learn more about the game.

YOUTH BASKETBALL CHAMPS

The Sheridan Lady Spartans won the annual Battle on the Blacktop basketball 9th and 10th grade division championship game this past weekend in Buffalo.

This team that has been playing together since 4th grade!!!!! Fun watching the girls.

They play together one weekend a year and it’s like they have played all year together.

Girls will be in the 10th grade this fall, all are Sheridan High School girls, except for the lone Big Horn girl, Bailey Bard.

WYOMING ALL-STAR HOOPS - The Wyoming high school all-star basketball teams dropped both both games in Sheridan Friday night the girls lost 70-69. The boys game went into overtime with Montana holding on for a 93-87 victory.

Saturday the Wyoming girls turned up the defensive heat and dominated Montana winning 65-49. They took a 12-1 lead at the start and never let Montana in the game after that, Sheridan's Hailey Ligocki says they were very motivated after losing by one point on Friday.
