SC BASKETBALL CAMP - The Sheridan college men's basketball program is hosting their annual youth basketball camp this week in the Hoffman dome.
Generals Head coach Steve Smiley had time out of his schedule yesterday to announce a couple of new hires for the athletic department.
LADY GENERALS VOLLEYBALL - The Lady Generals volleyball program has a new Head coach, Jonea Rima announced her resignation as head a week and half ago and the college had to work fast to get a new coach in place.
Today Smiley announced the hiring of Jennifer Weitzel as the next Head coach of the Lady Generals volleyball program.
Weitzel comes to Sheridan from Black Hills state university in Spearfish, South Dakota where she served as an assistant coach and as the interim head coach last season.
GENERALS HOOPS - Smiley also announced the hiring of Dan Magrino as an assistant coach with the Generals basketball program for the 2011-12 season.
Magrino comes to Sheridan college after serving as an assistant coach at Georgia college in Milledgeville, Georgia this past season.
TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers won't play at home again until they hot the road for the next two weeks which includes a trip to a three day tournament this weekend in Spearfish, South Dakota.
The trip will also include a road swing to Cheyenne and the the Nebraska twin cities of Scottsbluff and Gering.
The Troops next home games will be two conference double headers with Casper and Cody on June 27th and 29th.
The troops have won nine of their last eleven and stand at 14-5 on the season.
Since being swept in a double header in Spearfish two weeks ago the troops have won five of their last six games and Head coach Ben Phillips says the two losses in South Dakota served as a wake up call for the team.
