BRONC AND LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams both had 2-1 records at the East / West Showdown in Riverton over the weekend.
The Lady Broncs lost last Thursday by two against Star Valley, and then came back with double digit victories over Riverton and Evanston. Head coach Derek Bissitt.
The Lady Broncs will end non-Conference play this week with a road game at Billings West and a home game Saturday with Casper Natrona. Both games become big with the Conference season starting the following week.
The Broncs started with two wins in Riverton, beating Star Valley and Riverton, then they ran into Evanston Saturday and never were in the game, as the Red Devils opened up a 14-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back, taking the game 52-31. Broncs' head coach Mike Ibach says they never gave themselves a chance to be in the game.
The Broncs finish up non-Conference play this week, hosting Billings West Friday night and then playing at Natrona County Saturday.
RAMS AND LADY RAMS BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams swept weekend games, beating Wright at home Friday night. On Saturday they traveled to Moorcroft; the Lady Rams won easily 50-28, while the Rams beat the Wolves 66-51.
LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL - The Tongue River Lady Eagles started the weekend winning big at Moorcroft, then Saturday had an 18-point lead at Lovell before the Bulldogs forced overtime, then beat the Lady Eagles 59-55.
EAGLES BASKETBALL - The Eagles had a tough weekend, losing two close games. They lost 79-75 at Moorcroft Friday, and then lost 66-60 at home against Lovell. The Eagles made a great run at the Bulldogs in the second half after falling behind by 13 at halftime, but ran out of time.
PANTHERS AND LADY PANTHERS BASKETBALL - The Arvada / Clearmont Panthers and Lady Panthers both won at home against Upton on Friday. The Panthers went to Ten Sleep Saturday and lost 59-53.
GENERALS AND LADY GENERALS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan College Generals and Lady Generals swept all four games in the Hoffman Dome over the weekend. They beat Central by 10 Friday, and came back with victories over Western Wyoming Saturday.
The Generals fell behind early in both games, but roared back in both to post victories over the Rustlers and Spartans. Head coach Steve Smiley says they'll take both wins, but need a lotmore work.
The Generals' defense keyed both come-from-behind wins. Smiley says they found a way in both games to get the job done.
The Generals and Lady Generals open up North Sub-Region play tomorrow night with road games at Little Big Horn Community College.
UW BASKETBALL - The Wyoming Cowboys made a great comeback against San Diego State Saturday. The Pokes were down by 14 points with just under 5 minutes to play and pulled off an 85-83 come-from-behind win. Jay Dee Luster hit a 3-pointer with five seconds to play for the winning score.
The Cowboys play at TCU tomorrow night -- you can hear the game on AM 1410 KWYO and at 95.9 FM. Broadcast time is at 5:00. They end the week with a home game against New Mexico Saturday afternoon at 1:30.
NFL PLAYOFFS - The Divisional round games of the NFL playoffs are set after games on the weekend.
On Saturday Arizona will play at New Orleans after the Cardinals held off Green Bay 51-45 in overtime yesterday.
The AFC game Saturday will have Indianapolis hosting Baltimore after the Ravens beat up New England yesterday 33-14.
The NFC game Sunday has Dallas at Minnesota and the final game of the weekend will have the New York Jets at San Diego.
