SHERIDAN HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR TRACK - The Broncs and Lady Broncs had another good meet. They were in Chadron, Nebraska Saturday, and head coach Art Bauers says.
Bronc sprinter Kody Williams broke his school record in the 55 meters and set a meet record in the long jump. And for the 2nd week Williams is ranked in the Top 10 nationally in the Long Jump.
Bronc distance runner Dylan Morin for the second straight week set a Sheridan High School record. Last week, he set the new mark in the 3200 meters in Chadron. He set a new school record in the 1600 meters, and Bauers says Morin is starting to mature as a distance runner.
BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan Broncs picked up two more Conference victories over the weekend, blowing out Cheyenne East Friday 70-44, and coming from behind to beat Cheyenne Central Saturday, 55-47. Head coach Mike Ibach says they got off to slow start Saturday, but finished strong.
They stand at 12-5 overall and 4-1 after the first round of Conference play. Now they play four out of the next five on the road. The Broncs play at Casper Kelly Walsh Thursday and at Laramie Saturday.
LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Lady Broncs lost twice in Cheyenne over the weekend. They lost at East Friday 57-36, and 54-47 at Central Saturday. Head coach Derek Bissitt.
Bissitt says the Conference is highly competitive and the Lady Broncs know they play four of the next five at home. They host Kelly Walsh Friday and Laramie Saturday.
BIG HORN BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams played one game this past week, winning at home Friday against Moorcroft. This week they play at Tongue River Friday and at Greybull Saturday.
TONGUE RIVER BASKETBALL - The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles started the weekend with blow out wins over Sundance, and backed those victories up with wins Saturday against Rocky Mountain.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles host Big Horn Friday. The girls' Varsity game will be played at 4:30 and the boys' at 7:30. They will also play at home Saturday against Wright.
A/C BASKETBALL - The Arvada/Clearmont Panthers and Lady Panthers split their games. The Lady Panthers beat Midwest and lost to Meeteetsee. The Panthers lost against Midwest and beat Meeteetsee.
SHERIDAN COLLEGE BASKETBALL - The Sheridan College Generals and Lady Generals split games at Eastern Wyoming Friday -- the Lady Generals lost; and the Generals won. Saturday, the Generals continued the road trip to Laramie County and lost 108-72. This week, both teams play road North Sub-Region games in Miles City and Glendive, Montana.
BRONC WRESTLING - The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers finished 23rd at the “Ron Thon” Invitational tournament in Riverton. Only one Bronc placed as Devan Reilly finished 3rd at 145 pounds. This week, the Broncs close out the regular season at a home dual with Gillette Thursday night.
BRONC SWIMMING AND DIVING - The Bronc swimmers and divers opened the weekend with dual victories over Riverton and Cody, then had a strong 8th place finish at a big invitational in Gillette. This weekend, the Broncs head back to Gillette for their Conference meet.
SUPER BOWL - The New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 to win Super Bowl XLIV. The Saints intercepted Peyton Manning late in the 4th quarter as the Colts were driving to tie the game.
Saints' Quarterback Drew Brees tied the Super Bowl record with 32 completions for 288 yards and two Touchdowns. He was also named the game's MVP. The city of New Orleans will host the Saints victory parade tomorrow.
