2011 4-A STATE VOLLEYBALL CHAMPS!!!

STATE VOLLEYBALL - The Sheridan Lady Broncs ended the volleyball season as the 4-A state champs Saturday in Casper it's the first title for the lady bronc program since 1986.

They beat Laramie 3-1 to win the championship Head coach Wendy Ruby says they made a great run late in the season including winning the regional tournament.

And she says the Lady Broncs proved that small teams can win championships.

And she talks about what was the turning point of the season that set them on course to contend for the title.

The Big Horn Lady Rams lost in the semi finals and came back through the consolation bracket and beat Pine Bluffs for third place in the 2-A bracket.

PLAYOFF FOOTBALL - The Bronc football team beat Rock Springs Friday to advance to the semi final round of the 4-A playoffs, they jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead and cruised to the win Head coach Don Julian says it was a solid win the playoff opener.

Gillette comes into Sheridan for the semi finals Friday night Julian says what a great night it will be.

Kickoff Friday night at Homer Ccott stadium is scheduled for 6:00 we will broadcast it live for you on 14-10 KWYO and 95.9 FM.

The Big Horn Rams were eliminated from the playoffs Friday losing at Lyman 54-0.

LADY BRONC SWIMMING - The Sheridan Lady Bronc swimmers finished 6th at the state meet in Gillette Saturday.

Emily Speigelberg all-stated in the 100 backstroke finishing 2nd, Payton Brilz finished 4th in the 100 back.

Gretchen Dougherty finished 5th in the 100 breast stroke and 6th in the 100 butter fly.

COWBOY FOOTBALL - The Wyoming Cowboys beat San Diego state Saturday night 30-27 now the Pokes get back home with game against TCU Saturday afternoon.

WOUNDED WARRIORS / JIM MCMAHON - Former NFL Quarterback Jim McMahon was in Sheridan Saturday attending and Wounded Warrior Project fundraiser.

During his NFL career he won Super Bowl titles with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers and has been a long time supporter of the American military, Vets and the Wounded Warrior Project

McMahon was in town to raise money and did so signing autographs and speaking to those in attendance, they had a silent auction as part of the fund raising as well.

McMahon was part of the iconic Bears teams of the 1980's that won a Super bowl and he says it was an awesome experience to play on the same team with so many all-time great players and characters.
