The Kaycee boys' and girls' basketball teams were each seeded #1 in from the 1A East heading into last week's State Tournament in Casper.
The Buckaroos lost their opening round game to Cokeville 57-48, then worked their way through the consolation bracket, beating Upton 67-36 and defeating Midwest 66-54 to take the Consolation Championship and fifth place at State.
The Lady Bucs won their opening game against St. Stephens 50-48, then beat Burlington 47-40 before dropping the Championship game to Cokeville 50-40 to finish in second place.
At the 3A East Tournament in Wheatland, the Bison boys won their opening game 67-40 over Thermopolis, then fell to Wheatland 49-47 and then beat Douglas 78-48, qualifying for State and setting themselves up in the Third Place game against Rawlins. The Bison won that game 69-33.
The Lady Bison opened with a win over Thermopolis 40-34, then beat Douglas 36-33, to set up the Regional Championship game with Wheatland. The girls lost that game 36-34 to finish second at Regionals but will move on to the State Tournament this weekend.
The Lady Bison will face off against Powell Thursday at 10:30 in the morning at the Casper Events Center.
The Bison boys will play Cody Thursday at 1:30 at the Events Center.
