Another busy weekend for high school athletes in Johnson County is in the books, and we now have state champions and more hopefuls after this weekend's results.
In Swimming, the Bison boys finished 2nd at State behind Lander, who won their 17th-straight State Title.
Neil Medders took the State Title in the 200 freestyle; and Nate Holt was the State Champion in the 100 backstroke. The team of Medders, Holt, Timothy Cohoon and Matt Scarlett took State in the 400 free relay.
The Bison Wrestlers were in Casper for State and Buffalo's Kyle Burton won the State Championship in the 106-lb. Class.
No other Bison finished in the top three.
The Kaycee Buckaroos and Lady Bucs were at their Regional Tournament in Douglas this weekend and both will advance to state.
The Buckaroos took down Glendo 82-33; Rock River 68-65; and beat Upton 51-33 for the Regional Championship.
The Lady Bucs beat Guernsey 55-13 then lost to Lingle-Ft. Laramie 66-19; then defeated Hulett 53-35 in the Consolation Bracket before losing the third-place game to Arvada-Clearmont 52-48 to finish fourth. They will advance to state as well.
The Bison and Lady Bison will move on to the Regional Tournament in Worland this weekend after their weekend games this week.
The Bison beat Torrington 53-36 Friday and Douglas 60-43 on Saturday.
The Lady Bison dropped both of their games 56-48 to Torrington and 64-36 to Douglas.
