Former Sheridan College rodeo student-athlete Zeke Thurston’s wallet got a little bit thicker — OK, a lot thicker — on Sunday after winning the saddle bronc title at the Calgary Stampede, one of the largest rodeos in North America.

Thurston received a check for $100,000. He recorded rides of 88.50 and 90.50 before winning the championship with an 88.50 in a ride-off, final round with two other riders.

“I don’t know what I will do with it yet. That’s a lot of money to think about,” Thurston said on Monday.
