TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers play a double header at home with Casper tonight they played in Casper Sunday with the Oilers sweeping that double header first game starts at 5:00, Troopers head coach Ben Phillips.

The Troopers host the state double "AA" tournament at Thorne-Rider stadium starting on the 28th.

SUMMER SLAM VOLLEYBALL - The annual Weston Johnson summer slam outdoor volleyball tournament will be played August 8th at the YMCA.

Former Sheridan College rodeo star wins $100K at Calgary Stampede

Former Sheridan College rodeo student-athlete Zeke Thurston’s wallet got a little bit thicker — OK, a lot thicker — on Sunday after winning the saddle bronc title at the Calgary Stampede, one of the largest rodeos in North America.

Thurston received a check for $100,000. He recorded rides of 88.50 and 90.50 before winning the championship with an 88.50 in a ride-off, final round with two other riders.

“I don’t know what I will do with it yet. That’s a lot of money to think about,” Thurston said on Monday.

BRONC FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Bronc football coaches started the "Young Bronc" youth football camp at Homer Scott stadium last night and over 100 youth players came out to participate, Head coach Don Julian.

The Sheridan high school booster club golf tournament was another big success and the remodel project for the new locker rooms and training rooms is well underway.

WYO RODEO FINALE - The 2015 Sheridan WYO rodeo final money payoff was just shy of 260 thousand dollars.

Here are the overall winners in the Bareback riding Tanner Aus and Taylor Price tied with scores of 85 and earned 4600 dollar each, former Sheridan Bronc Devan Reilly tied for 6th and made a little less than 800 dollars

In the Bronc riding Allen Boore took the overall with a score of 84 and took home 4500 dollars.

In the Tie Down roping Caleb Smidt took the average at won 3600 dollars and in the team roping Coleman Proctor and Jake Long took the average winning 3700 dollars each.

WYO RODEO - The second performance of the Sheridan WYO rodeo is in the books in the Bareback riding Clint Laye had the best ride of the night with a score of 84, Dalton Davis scored 83 in the Saddle Bronc riding and in the Bull riding Dallee Mason scored 88.

Baylor Roche took the Steer wrestling in a time of 5.0, 21 time world champion Trevor Brazile was fastest of the steer ropers at 13.6 and in the Tie Down roping Bart Brunson and Caleb Smidt tied for the fastest run at 9.6.

2015 WYO RODEO - The first performance of the Sheridan WYO rodeo was a good one with scores over 80 from all the leaders in the rough stock events.

In the Bareback riding Tanner Aus has the lead with an 85, Allen Boore scored 84 in the Saddle bronc riding and Shane Proctor brought the house down in the Bull riding with a score of 89.

Beau Clark took the Steer wrestling in a time of 5.3, Vin Fischer Jr. was fastest of the steer ropers at 11.2, Hank Hollenback and Reese Reimer had 11.5 in the Tie down roping.
