Balanced Pokes Down Nevada in MW First Round, 85-81

LAS VEGAS (March 11, 2013) – Sophomore forward Larry Nance Jr.’s 19 points paced four Cowboys in double figures to help the University of Wyoming men’s basketball team earn an 85-81 first-round victory over Nevada at the Mountain West Championships on Tuesday in the Thomas & Mack Center. After trailing by four at halftime, the Pokes (19-12) opened the second half with a 19-4 run to build a double-digit lead and held off the Wolf Pack (12-19) down the stretch.

SHS WINTER ACTIVITIES - The winter sports season closed out Saturday and now we head into the spring season this week with the start of soccer and outdoor track, spring golf starts in a couple of weeks.

We sat down with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian says the winter season didn't produce any state champion teams but there were plenty of success stories.

LADY BRONCS 3RD AT STATE / SPRING SPORTS BEGIN FRIDAY

LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan Lady Bronc basketball team's dream of a state title came up short in Casper last Friday night but they were able to regroup after a devastating loss in the semi finals and win the 3rd place game in Casper Saturday.

The tournament started strong for the Lady Broncs as they blew out Green River the in opener all that momentum came crashing down in the semi finals against Cheyenne East, they held a 10-2 lead midway through the first quarter but East would take control from that point on and run away with the win.

Bison Girls Fourth At State, Spring Sports Begin This Week

The Buffalo Lady Bison girls are the Consolation Champions in the Class 3A Girls State Tournament, which happened this past weekend in Casper.

COWBOYS / COWGIRLS MWC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Cowboys will play Nevada Tuesday night in the MWC tourney opener.

We will broadcast the game live on 14-10 KWYO AND 87.7 FM ESPN radio.

The broadcast will begin at 5:30 with the Cowboy pregame show the tip is scheduled for 6:00.

If the pokes win they will play Wednesday night at 7:30 against New Mexico.

The Cowgirls are the 3rd seed they will play Colorado state Thursday night late. The broadcast will begin at 9 PM Thursday night.The game can be heard live on 14-10 KWYO AND 87.7 FM ESPN radio.

As the Winter sports season winds down, there was exciting action at the State High School Girls Basketball Tournaments. After being defeated by Cheyenne East 54 to 39 in the 4A Semi Final game, the Sheridan High School Lady Broncs went on to victory against Natrona winning 48 to 43 to take third place in the state.
The Buffalo Lady Bison won against Lander, 69 to 65, to take the Consolation Championship in their 3A tournament.

3-A / 4-A STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sheridan Lady Broncs beat Natrona county 48-43 to take 3rd place.

Gillette girls whipped Cheyenne East 69-48 for the 4-A title.

Evanston wins back to back 4-A championships taking down Riverton 54-50.

Star Valley high school got the double winning both 3-A State titles.
