DENVER BRONCO UPDATE

BRONCOS-FLOURISHING COORDINATORS

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - The more the Denver Broncos win, the better the chance they lose - coordinators, that is.

Defensive boss Jack Del Rio and his offensive counterpart, Mike McCoy, figure to be hot commodities for any head coaching vacancies when the season finally winds down. That's simply the price of success.

Coach John Fox says: "You like to see people get opportunities and have those options. I'm sure it will be no different this year."

The Broncos (11-3) have won nine straight heading into a game against Cleveland (5-9) on Sunday.

BRONCOS-STADIUM UPGRADE

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - The Denver Broncos are planning to spend $30 million to upgrade Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Most of the money will go toward a new high-definition video board in the south end zone, the team announced on its website Friday. Other video boards around the stadium also will be revamped.

Mac Freeman, the team's senior vice president of business development, said the improvements help the stadium "remain a state-of-the-art facility."

The Broncos said the money will come out of a capital improvement fund. The upgrades will begin after the season.

Winners of nine straight, the Broncos (11-3) try to extend their streak Sunday against Cleveland (5-9). They close out the regular season by hosting Kansas City.

GONSOULIN'S RECOVERY

For just a moment, former Denver Broncos standout Austin "Goose" Gonsoulin didn't think about the open-heart surgery he underwent a few weeks ago or the cancer that has spread throughout his body.

For a brief instant, the American Football League All Star almost felt like a safety again, transported back to a time when he used to make interceptions like this.

The 74-year-old Gonsoulin had just woken from a nap on the couch when he caught a flash across his television screen: Denver cornerback Chris Harris stepping in front of a pass and racing down the sideline for a 98-yard touchdown against Baltimore last Sunday.

Gonsoulin vividly remembers that feeling.

He gawked at each step, his chest hurting from sitting up so suddenly and his heart thumping with enthusiasm.
