Cowgirls Open Up Conference play With Tough 70-68 Loss At Boise State

Woodward records 25 points and 11 rebounds, Mileto scored 15 points against Boise State

BOISE, Idaho -The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team (11-3 overall, 0-1 MW) suffered a conference opening loss 70-68 against the Boise State Broncos (8-6 overall, 1-0 MW) on Wednesday night in Boise.

"This is conference play," said head coach Joe Legerski. "We had to have someone step up and Kayla Woodward did that tonight with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Boise State hit a three-point field goal at the end of the game and we couldn't hit a final shot at the end.

It's difficult to play on the road and you just have to win those final four minutes. We competed all night long coming back from 13 down and had a chance up four. Four of our five starters finished the night in double-figures and I'm proud of them."

Kayla Woodward finished her night with a career high 25 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting 11-23 from the field. Kaitlyn Mileto had 15 points plus a career high eight rebounds. Both Ashley Sickles and Chaundra Sewell finished the night with 13 points each.

Wyoming shot 28-63 (.444) from the field and 4-15 (.267) from beyond the arc.

Wyoming will return home to face the Nevada Wolf Pack, on Saturday, Jan. 12. The game is set for 2:00 p.m. in Laramie. Live stats can be followed on www.gowyo.com.
