Basketball / Wrestling season opens Friday

WINTER SPORTS - The winter sports season begins at Sheridan high school Friday night with the Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams hosting games with Green River, Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian says it will be a great night to kickoff the new season.

The girls varsity game is scheduled to tip off at 5:45 with the boys game to follow we will have both games live on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM.

Saturday they play games with Billings Skyview the Broncs on the road the Lady Broncs at home varsity tip off time is at 4:30.

Bronc football banquet / Pokes basketball posts victory / winter sports tip off Friday

BRONC FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Bronc football held their post season awards banquet at Sheridan high school last night.

Head coach Don Julian says they had a great night as they looked back on the accomplishments from the 2013 season.

One of the biggest moments of the night comes at the end when this year's senior class hands the torch off to the juniors who will lead the Broncs next season.

And Julian says it's important for all the bronc football players to stay busy.

Christensen out at UW / SC hoops has big weekend / High school winter sports begin

COWBOY FOOTBALL - The hammer came down in Laramie Sunday as Wyoming f0ootball coach Dave Christensen was fired after the Pokes went 5-7 on the season following Saturday's 35-7 loss at Utah state.

Christensen's five year record at Wyoming was 27-35 overall and 16-23 in league play. He did take the Pokes to two New Mexico bowl games winning one.

UW Athletic Director Tom Burman issued a statement saying " the football program has not achieved at the level of success we expect"

Dave Christensen was fired as Wyoming's football coach Sunday after the Cowboys lost five of their last six games this season.

He coached Wyoming for five years, taking the Cowboys to two bowl games. Wyoming finished 5-7 after starting 4-2, ending the season with a 35-7 loss to Utah State on Saturday.

Athletic Director Tom Burman says the football program "has not achieved at the level of success that we expect."

Christensen has three years remaining on a contract that runs through 2016.

Generals / Lady Generals pick up victories / Lions club hoops tournament this weekend at the Hoffman dome

SC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college basketball teams swept games from Colorado Northwestern Wednesday night.

The Lady Generals came back from three points down at halftime to beat the Spartans 66-55.

The generals had a 21 point halftime lead in their game and went onto win 105-73,

The Generals and Lady Generals are the hosts for the annual Sheridan Lions club tournament at the Hoffman dome which begins today.

SC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college basketball teams play at home tonight they host Colorado Northwestern, games will be at 5:00 and 7:00. we will be broadcasting both games live on KWYO and 87.7 FM.

The Generals are coming off a weekend tournament split in Idaho and stand at 8-2 overall and Head coach Steve Smiley says the Generals are playing well right now.

And he says they face another good opponent tonight in Colorado Northwestern.

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams hosted a fund raising event at Sheridan high school last night which included team scrimmages in front of a great crowd.

The regular season opens a week from Friday when they play green river at 5:45 and 7:30.

We talked with first year Lady Bronc Head coach Jessica Pickett at last night's festivities and she says the Lady Broncs had a good off season as they worked to get used to a new coaching staff.
