Kaycee's Buckaroos and Lady Bucs qualified for their State Tournament this past weekend before falling short in their quest for State Titles, while Buffalo's boys' and girls' basketball teams fell short in their Regional Tournaments, neither one qualifying for State.
All four of Johnson County's teams are now done for the year.
At the 1A State Tournament in Casper this weekend, the Kaycee Buckaroos opened with a 60-33 win over Encampment but then lost to Little Snake River 51-43 and finally lost to Guernsey-Sunrise 47-43 to finish fourth at State.
The Lady Bucs opened their 1A State Tournament by losing to Little Snake River 45-40 and were then eliminated by Upton 49-33.
The Buffalo Bison opened their 3A Regional Tournament in Torrington by beating Newcastle 63-42, but then lost to Rawlins 56-46. They then fell to Douglas 62-50 and are done for the season, failing to qualify for State.
The Lady Bison lost to Rawlins 74-63 in the opening round game in their 3A Regional Tournament, then beat Wheatland 43-41 before falling to Torrington 58-47 also failing to qualify for State.
The 3A State tournament begins later this week in Casper and the teams qualifying were: for the boys; Wheatland, Rawlins, Glenrock and Douglas from the East and Cody, Lander, Star Valley and Powell from the West.
For the girls: Douglas, Worland, Torrington and Newcastle from the East; and Mountain View, Powell, Star Valley and Lander from the West.
Spring sports are just around the corner.
