The Sheridan Bronc football team is a little over a week away from opening up the 2014 season against the Plainsmen of Laramie. As players change from year-to-year, it presents an interesting dilemma for the coaching staff. Head Coach Don Julian says that his philosophy is simple.
Julian said that they are excited to open up at home in front of the fans. While the upcoming season is sure to have many peaks and valleys, the Coach knows that getting off to a good start is important. The Broncs will host Laramie a week from Friday at Homer Scott Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6, with the First Federal Savings Bank pregame scheduled for 5:30. All Bronc football games this year will be broadcast live on AM-1410 KWYO.
The Big Horn Rams will scrimmage with Lander next Friday, August 29 in Casper at Kelly Walsh High School at 5 pm. The Rams will open up their season on the road at Lovell, Friday, September 5 at 7 pm.
The Tongue River Eagles football team has moved down a class, as they'll be competing in 1A this season. The Eagles will take part in a jamboree in Riverside Friday, August 29 at 3 o'clock. They will begin their season on the road against Rocky Mountain, Friday, September 5 at 7 pm.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Jordan Norwood tore his left ACL in practice Wednesday, ending what was shaping up as one of the league's best comeback stories. Norwood was attempting to catch a sideline pass from Peyton Manning when Houston cornerback Brandon Harris broke it up. Norwood landed awkwardly and was carted off the field. The fifth-year pro, who'd been cut five times by four teams and sat out all of last season, was Denver's most consistent punt returner and had worked his way into the receiver rotation.
He had a 20-yard punt return and a 34-yard TD catch against Seattle in the preseason opener. Wes Welker now moves up to primary punt returner with undrafted rookie Isaiah Burse another option.
The Broncos will play their third pre-season game Saturday night at home against the Texans. We'll have all the action for you live on AM-1410 KWYO beginning at 5 o'clock with the pre-game show.
