FIRST NIGHT OF THE 81ST WYO / TROOPERS DROP TWO ON THE ROAD

WYO RODEO - The 81st Sheridan WYO opened with the first of four performances last night hear are the event leaders after day one.

In the rough stock events in the Bareback riding the top score last night came from Cody Demers from Kimberly, Idaho with an 83.

Tyrell Smith from Great Falls Montana leads the Bronc riding with a score of 81 and in the Bull riding Corey Navarre from Weatherford, Oklahoma leads with a score last night of 83.

LOCAL YOUTH NAMED TO THE WYOMING NATIONAL HERSHEY TRACK TEAM

Brock Bomar from Sheridan will be one of five athletes and the only runner from Wyoming that will be attending the North American Final in Hershey, PA in August.

Brock is shown here with the first place ribbons he won at the Wyoming State Meet in the 50 and 200 meter dash. At the Hershey National meet Brock will be competing in the 9-10 age group of the 200 meter dash on August 6th.

RODEO WEEK CONTINUES / TROOPERS WRAP UP THE REGULAR SEASON

WYO RODEO DAY TWO - Day two of the Sheridan WYO rodeo continues this morning with slack timed events at 9:00 at the Sheridan county fairgrounds.

The WYO carnival opens this evening and the first performances of the 81st WYO rodeo opens tonight with a cannon shot at 7:00

81ST SHERIDAN WYO RODEO - Steer roping slack for the 81st Sheridan WYO rodeo opens at 7:00 this morning with slack timed events continuing tomorrow morning at 9:00.

The WYO carnival opens tomorrow evening and the first performances of the 81st WYO rodeo opens tomorrow night at 7:00

WYO rodeo committee president Zane Garstad says that everyone is ready to go and says great community involvement makes the WYO a tremendous event.

SHERIDAN 9-10 ALL-STARS

The 9-10 Year Old Sheridan Little League All-Star team "Sheridan Calvary" went to Cody for the Cody Minor League All-Star Tournament Friday and Saturday and came home with the Championship.

They beat the Cody "A" Team in the Championship game 19-7. The boys went 4-0 on the weekend.

They will play in the Wyoming District tournament in Laramie July 18-22.

SHERIDAN MAJOR LEAGUE ALL-STARS

The Sheridan Little League Major All-Stars won their division on Saturday at the 2nd Annual Twin City All-Star Tournament in Cody/Powell.

The Majors had to go to extra innings to defeat the Cody Stampede All-Stars 5-4, with a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth. Game had been tied since the 5th inning!

The All-Stars will be heading to Laramie for the East District Tournament, on July 18th.

It is a week long event with 8 teams, and only two advance to go to State in Gillette, the following week.

TROOPER BASEBALL / WYO RODEO / FOOTBALL CAMP

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers dropped both ends of their header Saturday with the Billings Halos by scores of 13-3 and 13-11. They get right back on the field tonight with two games over in Spearfish.

It's been a tough stretch of games for their last three weeks that have taken their toll with some players missing several games.

They expect to be back at full strength when the post season begins next week head coach Ben Phillips says the troops are playing a little tired right now.
