2012 TRACK / WRESTLING / SWIMMING / HOOPS

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD - The Indoor track and field season is underway at Sheridan high school with the first practices of the new season for the Broncs and Lady broncs.

The first meet will be at Black Hills state university in Spearfish a week from Friday.

WRESTLING - The Bronc wrestlers will open up 2012 at the "Shane Shatto" invitational in Douglas Friday.

SWIMMING - The Bronc swimmers will open the new year at home hosting duals with Gillette and Laramie tomorrow and Friday.

FORMER SHERIDAN RESIDENT TALKS ABOUT HIS TIME AS A PBR TRANSLATOR

THE PBR HAS A LOCAL FLAVOR - Former Sheridan resident Tab Barker who now resides in Austin, Texas made a visit to Sheridan Media Monday.

Known more for his ongoing "Project School House" program in the last several months some may have seen him on the national television broadcasts of the Professional Bull Riders tour not as a contestant but as a translator for several Brazilian riders.

The problem the PBR had was interviews with the Non-English speaking riders and Barker fit the bill knowing their native language Portuguese.

2012 SPORTS BEGIN THIS WEEK

SHS INDOOR TRACK / FIELD - The 2012 Indoor track and field season begins tomorrow at Sheridan high school.

Head coach Art Bauers says as usual they are expecting a great turn out tomorrow.

And with so many kids and not much in the way of a good indoor track facility they make do with what they have and works pretty well.

The first meet in two weeks away and they'll get started tight off tomorrow with the hard work to get the athletes ready to go.

Buffalo, Kaycee HS Athletes Resume Schedules This Week

Johnson County's high school sports teams will begin resuming their seasons with all teams competing this week.
After the long Holiday break, the first team in action will be the Bison Wrestlers who will be in Gillette Tuesday for matches there.
The Bison boys' and girls' basketball teams will start 2012 on Friday, January 6th as the boys host the Wheatland Bulldogs and the girls play at Wheatland.
The Bison boys' swim team will also open 2012 on Friday, January 6th at the Douglas Invite.

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL RESULTS / LOCAL SPORTS SCHEDULE

ENERGY CLASSIC SCORES - There is some high school basketball going on in Northeast Wyoming as Gillette high school is hosting their annual "Energy classic" tournament.

On Friday both the Gillette boys and Natrona county boys lost, NC lost 63-49 against Bismarck, North Dakota and Gillette dropped an 81-74 game against Brighton, Utah.

In the girls bracket the Gillette Lady Camels beat Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 76-45.

The tournament concludes Saturday night.

BRONC WRESTLERS OFF TO A GOOD START AND LOOKING TO CARRY THAT INTO 2012

BRONC WRESTLING - The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers will open up 2012 at the "Shane Shatto" invitational in Douglas a week from today.

The Broncs are off to solid start to their season and are coming off a dual win against Billings West high school and a top three finish at dual tournament in Worland.

First year head coach Scott Cleland says the hard work continues as they mold the Broncs into a pretty good 4-A team.

LADY BRONC BASKETBALL PREVIEW / MORE LOCAL ACTION

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - Wednesday we took a look at the Sheridan Bronc basketball team as they prepare to restart the season a week from today, yesterday we made a stop at Sheridan high school to check in on the Lady Broncs.

The Lady Broncs have won six out of their first seven games and Head coach Sean Yeager they took a look back at those games and have gone back to the basics this week.

And with the work they've gotten done this week the break did come at a good time.

SHERIDAN BRONCS 7-0 RANKED #1 IN 4-A HOOPS

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan high school basketball teams are back in practice this week as they prepare to restart their seasons next week in Riverton.

Broncs Head coach Mike Ibach has the Broncs at 7-0 for the first time in his eight seasons as he talks about what they needed to address heading into the break.

They are unbeaten and Ibach says they Broncs have done many good things to earn their number one
4-A ranking.
