SC Basketball ready for post season play

Sheridan College basketball teams set for Region IX tournaments

The Sheridan College men’s basketball team will face Central Wyoming College in Riverton on Friday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region IX tournament.

The game will tip at 7 p.m. and the winner will advance to Northwest College in Powell for remaining tournament action.

Head coach Matt Hammer’s Generals are 17-13 this season.

In the women’s Region IX tournament, head coach Frank McCarthy’s squad will head to Scottsbluff, Neb., on Wednesday to face McCook (Neb.). The game will tip at 3 p.m.

BRONC WRESTLING - The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers open the Wyoming state wrestling championships tomorrow morning in Casper.

Broncs Head coach Tyson Shatto says Gillette leads a very good field of teams heading into the tournament.

And he says the Camels are a huge favorite to win the team title again and we asked Tyson if any team has chance to knock them off.

BRONC WRESTLING - The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers compete in the all class state wrestling championships, matches begin Friday morning at 9:00 in the Casper events center.

Head coach Tyson Shatto says the stage is set and now they just have to go out and get it done.

And he says the broncs are riding a good wave of momentum from their second place run at the regional tournament. And he talks combining the individual performances into making sure the team outcome is the best.

Dining for a Cause / Regional Hoops / Sheridan v Gillette Friday / Pokes and Cowgirls in action Wednesday

DINING FOR A CAUSE - February's "Dining for a cause" event was held at Frackelton's Monday with proceeds of the day going to support the construction of the new locker room and training facility at Sheridan high school.

As the lunch hour began we caught up with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian as he was greeting diners and he says it looked like early it was going to be a big day.

This is the Sheridan 4x400 girls relay team. They finished 6th at the Simplot games Saturday in Pocatello, Idaho.

They set a new school record in the process at 4:10.30. The time is currently the fastest in Wyoming this year

They received their medals from Mike Powell, world record holder in the long jump and Andre Phillips, Olympic 400 meter hurdle gold medalist.

Youth Hoop Champs

The Holy Name Vikings middle school basketball team capped off an undefeated Northeast District Conference Season by winning the District Tournament on Saturday defeating the Tongue River Eagles 50-24 in the Championship game.

The Vikings were a perfect 10-0 during conference play and then won 2 more games on their way to the Championship.

Sheridan College Women Soccer team is excited to announce there first player to commit and sign for the class of 2015 is Kendall Bright, a GK from Willamette HS, Eugene, OR. "We are very excited to have Kendall play for us next year, She is a very confident Goal Keeper" said Coach Stefan, "She brings a great amount of playing experience with her and a desire to learn."

Kendall is looking to study Dental Hygiene at Sheridan College. She started playing soccer in 1st grade and has enjoyed it a lot.
