Johnson County High School Sports Weekend Starts Tonight

Another busy weekend in Johnson County high school sports begins tonight with a number of teams competing.
The BHS wrestlers will be on the mat with the Outlaws in Rawlins tonight at 4:30 and then will host the Torrington Trailblazers on Saturday, beginning at 1pm.
In basketball, the Bison boys' and girls' sophomores will host Arvada-Clearmont's varsity teams at 5:30 and 7 tonight at BHS.

TR'S ROB JOHNSON- ICAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Spearfish, SD – Black Hills State University men's basketball senior Rob Johnson was named the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts over the past week against S.D. Mines, Northern New Mexico and Johnson & Wales. Johnson helped the Yellow Jackets go 3-0 on the week.

"This is a great honor for Rob who has stepped up as a major leader this year as a senior," said Head Coach Bradd Schafer. "He has truly taken advantage of a new role this season."

Bison Wrestlers Struggle at Conference Duals

The Buffalo Bison wrestlers had a rough time at the Conference Duals in Torrington last week, having only four wrestlers suited up for competition.
On Friday, the Bison dropped their duals with Glenrock 72-12, Rawlins 36-6, Wheatland 66-6 and Newcastle 63-10. Saturday they fell to Torrington 72-6, Worland 54-15 and Douglas 72-3.
Individually, Taylor Bell went 6-1 during the meet, Kyle Burton was 3-4, Darby Scantling went 1-5 and Seth Sickler finished 0-7.

SHERIDAN / GILLETTE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

BRONC / LADY BRONC HOOPS - The Sheridan high school basketball teams play conference games with Gillette Thursday and Friday.

The Broncs will lead off playing in the Razor city Thursday the Lady Broncs will host the Gillette girls Friday.

Lady Broncs Head coach Sean Yeager all the focus this week is on the Camels.

We will broadcast both games for you live both varsity games tip at 7:30 and you can hear all the action on 14-10 KWYO and 95.9 FM.

Bison Swimmers Show Well at Gillette and Lander Meets

The Bison boys' swim team had a productive weekend, placing well at Gillette and finishing second in Lander.
On Thursday the Bison competed against what coach Ron Chapin called a very talented Gillette team.
He said, “A couple of their swimmers compete at the national level and are fun to watch. We looked really tired in the water after a tough Wednesday practice. The only improvement we had was Neil Medders taking 6 seconds off his 500 free time. Neil has the fastest 200 and 500 free time in 3A as does Nate Holt in the 100 backstroke.

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan high school basketball teams swept four games from Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East the Broncs dominated both teams in Cheyenne to run their conference record to 4-0 and 14-2 overall.

The Lady Broncs were tough at home against both teams picking up two solid wins to go to 3-1 in conference play and 13-3 overall.

All of Johnson County's high school teams were in competition this weekend and all had a good showing.
In basketball, the Kaycee boys got the weekend started by traveling to NSI on Thursday, dropping a close game 62-56 in overtime. They then beat Arvada-Clearmont 91-39 Friday night.
The Kaycee Lady Bucs beat A/C 60-43 Friday and ran away from Class 2A Sundance 42-16 on Saturday.
The Bison boys took down Douglas 56-37 on Friday and then beat Worland 79-41 on Saturday.
