Christensen out as Wyoming coach

Dave Christensen was fired as Wyoming's football coach Sunday after the Cowboys lost five of their last six games this season.

He coached Wyoming for five years, taking the Cowboys to two bowl games. Wyoming finished 5-7 after starting 4-2, ending the season with a 35-7 loss to Utah State on Saturday.

Athletic Director Tom Burman says the football program "has not achieved at the level of success that we expect."

Christensen has three years remaining on a contract that runs through 2016.

The Sheridan College Generals and Lady Generals basketball teams played on the road this weekend at separate tournaments in Idaho.

The Generals played at a tournament at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. According to Generals coach Steve Smiley. The Generals needed a few extra minutes Friday night to take care of the Treasure Valley Chukars, edging them out in overtime 88-86 and moving to 8-1 on the year. A Treasure Valley tip-in with 2 seconds left tied the game and a Preston Wells half-court shot went in-and-out sending the game into a 3rd period.
