The Buffalo Bison boys' swim team geared up for the conference meet this past weekend by beating Powell and finishing seventh at the Gillette Invite.
Friday the boys hosted Powell, beating them 117-58.
Coach Ron Chapin said, “We started the meet taking first and second in the medley relay. This set the tone for the rest of the meet. We had some season-best times by Nate Holt, Neil Medders, Randy Olsen, Jaren Olsen, Hunter Cardinal and Timothy Cohoon.”
First place finishes came from: the 200 Medley relay team of Holt, Wyatt Zegstroo, Timothy Cohoon, Matt Scarlett; the 200 free relay team of Josh Cohoon, Scarlett, Medders and Tim Cohoon; the 400 free relay team of Josh Dillinger, Holt, Randy Olsen and Josh Cohoon;
Justin Land in diving; Medders in the 500 and 200 free; Holt in the 200 free and 100 back; Tim Cohoon in the 100 butterfly; and Josh Cohoon in the 100 breast and 100 free.
On Saturday the team took 7th at the Gillette Invite.
Chapin said of the team's performance in Gillette that he was “very impressed with our 200 IM swimmers. Wyatt Zegstroo and Tim Cohoon each had lifetime best times by taking off 4 seconds. Nate Holt improved another 2 seconds.”
A number of other improved times were posted by Bison swimmers as well.
Next up is the Conference Meet in Newcastle this weekend.
Diving Prelims will be Friday at 3:30, swimming at 5pm and Finals on Saturday begin at 10:15.
Second-place finishes vs. Powell: 200 Medley relay team; Shawn Morgan in diving; Josh Dillinger in the 200 free; Matt Scarlett in the 100 breast stroke; and Wyatt Zegstroo in the 100 butterfly.
Other finishes in Gillette: Nate Holt, fourth in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 IM; Neil Medders, fifth in the 200 free, eighth in the 100 free; Josh Cohoon, eighth in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 free.
