The Buffalo Bison Golf Team began their season at the Wheatland Invitational on August 18 and 19.
Teams from Buffalo, Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East, Wheatland, Torrington, Douglas and Rawlins played in the tournament.
According to Coach Chad Rose, the Bison boys had a 5 stroke lead after the first day with a score of 342 and improved 10 strokes to 332 the second day to win the tournament.
Individually for the boys, junior Tyler Harriet shot an 86 and an 80 to finish tied for second.
Lee Hartley, also a junior, shot an 83 both days to also finish tied for second.
Senior Cam Spade shot an 85 both days to finish fifth.
Senior Garrett Wright shot an 89 and an 84 to finish sixth.
Senior Nick Lulias shot a 100 and a 90 for the weekend.
The Bison girls finished second to a Rawlins team that returned everyone from a third place team at State last year.
The girls shot 300 the first day, and 291 the second day for an impressive showing.
Individually, Senior Katy Odenbach shot a 106 and a 107 to take third.
Freshman Jordan Snyder shot 114 and 115 for sixth place.
Sophomore Sidney Gruntmier shot 116 and 115 to finish seventh.
Freshman Hannah Pfister also shot 116 and 115 to finish tied for seventh.
Shea Diefenderfer, Senior, shot a 120 and a 128.
“This is the perfect start to our year,” said Rose. “We medaled 8 of the 10 kids we brought. I couldn’t be more happy with the result.”
