BIG HORN RAMS STATE CHAMPS - The Big Horn Rams capped off a perfect 28-0 basketball season by blowing out Wyoming Indian to win the class 2-A basketball championship Saturday night.
They built up a 24 point lead after three quarters and cruised to the title. Senior Colby Wollemen led the way with 21 points and 15 rebounds senior Brandon Metzger had a double-double as well with 13 points and 15 boards.
Wollenmen says the rams were on a mission after losing the football championship last November.
The Rams had a great school year as the boys lost only one time combined in the football and basketball season Wollenmen says it was great to be part of it.
One senior couldn't be on the court Saturday starter Wyatt Mirich broke his collarbone in the semi final win over Kemmerer when he collided with a Ranger player.
Mirich had to watch from the bench Saturday but he made a speech to his teammates at halftime to encourage them to keep rolling.
Rams Head coach Ryan Alley says the game plan was to go right at the Chiefs and the players did a great job.
LADY RAMS / LADY EAGLES - The Big Horn Lady Rams and the Tongue River Lady Eagles both lost 4th quarter leads in the semi finals and were relegated to play each other in the 3rd place game Saturday morning.
The Lady Eagles came out on top 49-38 breaking open a close game in the 4th quarter.
The Lady Rams had a great season Head coach Wyane Hall says it was just a tough way for their season to end. And Hall says they lose some great seniors but have several good young players returning next year.
It was a great way for a young Tongue River Lady Eagles to finish their season, their only senior Kim Caywood led them to the 3rd place finish Head coach Diane Moser.
Sarah Nielsen had a great game against Big Horn with a game high 25 points and Moser says this year's Lady Eagles came a long way since November.
BRONCS / LADY BRONCS BASKETBALL - March Madness continues this week with the Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams playing in their state tournament which opens Thursday in Casper.
The Broncs will be a one seed after beating Gillette Saturday in the regional title game. The Broncs held off the Camels 46-42. They open the state tournament Thursday night at 9:00 against Rock Springs.
The Lady Broncs beat Gillette Saturday 79-70 to get the 3rd seed into the state tournament. They open Thursday morning at 10:30 against Star Valley. Both games will be broadcast live Thursday on 14-10 KWYO.
STATE INDOOR TRACK - The Bronc and Lady Bronc indoor track teams both placed 6th in the state indoor championships.
Only one athlete took home individual titles that was Bronc distance runner Dylan Morin. Morin won all three distance racers winning the medal in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meters.
MWC TOURNEY COWBOYS - The Wyoming Cowboys will play TCU Wednesday afternoon the Mountain west conference play in game.
The winner advances to play BYU Thursday in the first round. You can hear the game live Wednesday afternoon on 14-10 KWYO broadcast time is at 2:30.
MWC TOURNEY COWGIRLS - The Cowgirls open the tournament Wednesday night broadcast time is 7:30.
They get the winner of Tuesday's game between San Diego state and New Mexico
