Arvada Clearmont High School standout Shayna Kretschman has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Sheridan College next season.
“We have been watching Shayna the last two seasons at Arvada Clearmont, and really like her skills,” said Sheridan College coach Frank McCarthy. “We feel she can shoot the basketball and also put it on the floor and get to the rim.
She comes from a very good high school program, under the direction of Farrah Patterson.Shayna is also a very good student with a 3.9 GPA.
Kretschman joins another student athlete from Arvada Clearmont in Randa Clabaugh, who was another outstanding athlete that joined the Sheridan College women’s basketball team.”
Kretschman, 1A East Co-Player of the year, made All-Conference and All-State this past season, and will be playing in the North-South All-Star game in Casper. Averaging 14.5 points, 2.6 assists, and 4.3 steals per game in her senior season, Kretschman finished the season in the top ten of five different categories.
She finished 6th in points, 9th in assists, 4th in steals, 4th in three point percentage (40%), and 10th in overall field goal percentage (44%).
Kretschman is a multi-sport athlete that has also participated in volleyball and track and field, making all-conference all four years in track and also being named Powder River Conference 1A Female Athlete of the Year award twice.
She has also participated in FFA, Student Council, Close-up, and won the Keys to the Stone Award.
Shayna Kretschman joins Jess Underberg (Douglas) and Sarah Rawlings (Tongue River) in the 2014-15 recruiting class so far. The Lady Generals finished last season with 19 wins, and have won the North Sub-Region 11 of the last 13 years.
