2011-12 SHS ATHLETICS - The 2011-12 high school sports season closed over the weekend and we had a chance to sit down and talk with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian about this past season.

He says the year will go down as maybe the best year ever for Sheridan high school varsity athletics.

Not only were there several successes on the field this past season but the students also did the job in the classroom.

TROOPER BASEBALL - This week the Sheridan Troopers have played six games over the first three weeks of their season that schedule will change as they head to Gillette for four games over the coming weekend.

Following that tournament they will play 18 games in the first two weeks of June.

They open the tournament Saturday afternoon against Rapid City Post #320 and then a night game with Gillette, they will be off Sunday for graduation and back to Gillette Monday for games with Rock Springs and Douglas.

The play three straight double headers on the road in Rapid City, Powell and Riverton to start the month of June before hosting four straight at home

They will also be hosting the annual Trooper youth baseball camp June 6th-8th at Thorne-Rider stadium.

The camp is open to all kids ages 7-15 registration forms are available at the Sheridan recreation district.

BASKETBALL CAMPS - Sheridan high school girls basketball coach Sean Yeager and his Lady Bronc players will host their "Little Lady Bronc basketball camp June 4th, 5th and 6th at the Sheridan high school gym.

The camp is open to girls going into the 5th through 8th grades it will run three hours each day from 3:00 to 6:00 on the 4th and from 9:00 to noon on the 5th and 5th. For more information you can contact Sean Yeager at 763-6318.

There will be plenty more basketball coming up in June as the annual Wyoming / Montana all-star basketball series will be played in Sheridan and Billings June 8th and 9th.

The Sheridan college boys youth basketball camp will run from June 11th through the 14th. The Lady Generals girls youth basketball camp will be held at the Hoffman dome June 18th through 21st.

WYOMING SPORTS HALL OF FAME - The 2012 Wyoming sports hall of fame has announced this years inductees.

Three of the newly enshrined live in Sheridan. The Phillips brothers Blanie and Ben Phillips will be new members of the hall this year.

Both were All state and Super 25 quarterbacks for the Sheridan Broncs during the programs state championship winning season's in 1990,91,92 and 93.

Both were multiple sports athletes and played basketball for the broncs and both were two of the best to ever wear a Sheridan Trooper uniform as will.

Blaine is a former Sheridan Trooper head coach and Ben is the current Trooper head coach.

Also going into the hall this year is Cheyenne native and current Sheridan resident Dave Edeen a defensive stand out for the Wyoming Cowboys football teams in the late 1980's he was a two time all WAC player. Induction ceremonies will take place June 23rd in Casper.

BISON FOOTBALL - The Buffalo bison have a new football coach, Pat Lynch was relieved of his duties during last fall's playoffs and former assistant Rob Hammond is now the next head coach of the Bison.

RYUN WILLIAMS - Former Sheridan college player and coach Ryun Williams has been named the next head women's coach at Colorado state.

Williams played for Bruce Hoffman for two years at Sheridan college and finished up his playing career at the University of South Dakota then got into coaching.

Sheridan college hired him as the Lady Generals volleyball coach after one season he took over the lady generals basketball program for three years.

He moved onto to Wayne state University in Nebraska for 10 years before moving onto the University of South Dakota for the last four he has a career record of 311-190 in 17 seasons.

Williams meet the media in Fort Collins after excepting the Lady Rams job.

ROCKIES BASEBALL - The Colorado Rockies lost 7-6 in Miami last night they play the marlins again tonight we will have the game live for you on Sports/Talk 87.7 FM broadcast time is at 4:30.
