SC VOLLEYBALL - Sheridan College volleyball coach Jonea Rima has two sophomores and a bunch of talented freshmen on this year's squad. They leave today to open their season at a tournament in Lamar, Colorado. Rima says the team is excited tofinally play. Rima says the roster might be young, but is loaded with talented players. And she says they'll see some good competition in Lamar this weekend. They'll play six matches, and open tomorrow with Pratt, Kansas.
BRONC FOOTBALL - Class 4-A football will have a different feel in 2009. This year, it's a 9-week regular season instead of 8, with no non-conference games. Head coach Don Julian says the Broncs can't ease into the season and must be ready to go tomorrow against Kelly Walsh. HS FOOTBALL - The Big Horn and Tongue River football teams will play zero-week scrimmages with Glenrock Saturday afternoon at Homer Scott Stadium; both teams open the regular season next week.
HS SPORTS - The Sheridan High School tennis teams open their season today in Gillette. They play matches against Jackson and Riverton.
The Lady Bronc swimmers and divers and the Sheridan High School cross-country teams both open their seasons tomorrow in Casper.
The Lady Bronc volleyball team plays at a tournament in Riverton tomorrow. The Big Horn Lady Rams will also play in Riverton, and the Tongue River Lady Eagles will play at a tournament in Lovell.
NCAA - The Wyoming Cowboys open next Saturday at home with Weber State.
NFL - The Denver Broncos play their third pre-season game Sunday night against the Chicago Bears; the game will be broadcast live on AM 1410 KWYO starting at 5 o'clock.
