AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The 2009 State American Legion Baseball Tournament enters it's final day in Rock Springs, and is down to the final three teams. Post #6 from Cheyenne is well on their way to winning their 8th title in the last 9 years. Post #6 waits for an opponent tonight in the championship game as Gillette and Powell dual for the right to face the Eagles.
In action yesterday Cheyenne beat Gillette 9-6 in the winner's bracket semi-final to advance to the final, in the loser's bracket Powell eliminated Cody and Laramie eliminated Wheatland. Then Powell met Laramie with Powell winning to advance to play Gillette this afternoon, those two go at it for the right to take on Cheyenne for the title.
Gillette in the defending state champs they beat Cheyenne last year ending their seven year run as state champs.

YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP - The Tongue River High School football coaches and varsity players host the Eagles youth football camp next week Tuesday through Thursday. The camp is for players in the 1st through 8th grades. Each session will run in the evening from 6 to 7:30 at Tongue River High School. The fee is 20 dollars per camper. Registration forms can be found at the Corner grocery and the school district office in Ranchester.

LOCAL TENNIS - The Sheridan Recreation District will host the annual J.D. Mulinaxx tennis tournament next weekend. They will have men's,women's and mixed doubles. The fee is 20 dollars per person/per event. The tournament site will be courts in Thorne-rider Park, registration is being taken at the rec office.

LITTLE GUY FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Rec District opens registration next week for Little guy football. That's for all flag and tackle players,they will take your sign ups at the rec office during business hours through next Friday at 5 pm..

FALL SPORTS SEASON - We are not to far off from football season. The Denver Broncos opened training camp yesterday with their first pre-season game August 14th at San Francisco.
The Wyoming Cowboys open camp in a week and half and the Sheridan Broncs open camp Monday August 10th, Tongue River, Big Horn and NSI will open practice on the 17th. All fall sports including golf, tennis, girls swimming and volleyball also open practice on the 17th .
