VOLLEYBALL CAMP - The annual youth volleyball camp opened at Sheridan college yesterday Lady Generals volleyball coach Jonea Rima says they had a good turn out of younger girls during the morning session she says that was a nice surprise because elementary ages don't have a lot of volleyball playing opportunities. The junior high and high school players are going in the afternoon and they had good numbers as well. Camp runs through tomorrow afternoon next month the Lady Generals open pre-season practice which will include six days of training camp with junior high and high school players the first three day session will go august 5th, 6th and 7th then again the 10th, 11th and 12th.

LOCAL GOLF - The 2nd junior golf tournament of the season was played yesterday at Kendrick golf course here are yesterday's age group winners for the girls Kindle Kirkham won the 14-15 year old group with Kira Kirkham and Alex Eisele tied for 2nd. Kayla Allen made it two straight wins in the girls 9-10 year old group, Peyton Bomar was 2nd, Lydia Mayer was 3rd and Jillian Mayer was 4th.

In the boys competition Kirby Coe-Kirkham was 1st, Drew Mavrakis was 2nd and Brock Bomar was 3rd. Andrew Boint took the 10 year old group with Jacob Ahlstrom 2nd and Wheaton Williams 3rd. Jack Mavrakis won the 11-12 year old group with Blake Godwin 2nd and Caleb Morel 3rd. Tanner Metzger won the boys 13-14 year olds with Kaul Eisele 2nd and Kris Johnson 3rd. Brandon Metzger took the boys 15 and older group with Taylor Reed 2nd with Bryce Williams and Chris Cremer tied for 3rd place. The sheridan county junior golf series ends next monday at the powder horn.

In other golf notes this weekend the Sheridan “City” championships will be held it's a 36 hole event with one round at Kendrick golf course and one round at the Sheridan country club. Players will be flighted by handicap registration will be taken through Friday.

FOOTBALL CAMP - Tongue River Eagles football coach Chuck Walters has announced that the annual “Scream'in Eagles” football camp will be held in Dayton next week. The camp will be held at Tongue River high school August 4th, 5th and 6th in the evening from 6 to 7:30 pm. The camp is open to all players from the 1st through 8th grades registration forms are available at the Corner grocery, and the District office in Ranchester or you can contact coach Walters at 673-7327.

SCHOOL DISTRICT II ACTIVITIES - Sheridan high school activities director and football coach Don Julian has announced fall sports reminders all Sheridan county school district two athletes no matter the sport must have sports physicals completed before they can participate in any activities. Physicals must be dated after June 1st the Sheridan high school player / parent meeting will take place Sunday August 9th at 4 o'clock in the Sheridan high school auditorium the first Bronc football practice for all freshmen through seniors will be Monday August 10th.
The first day of practice for volleyball, swimming, golf, cross country and tennis will be August 17th.the Sheridan high school booster club fall kick off BBQ will be held August 25th at 5:30 at the high school and at 7 pm the fall coaches excluding football will hold their parent meetings.
