AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers dropped both ends of a double header against Rapid City Post #320 Saturday it was their final home games of the regular season. #320 took the first game 20-6 and the second game 14-3 now it's onto post season play Wednesday in Casper at the north district tournament.

The top four teams from the district advance to the state tournament in Rock Springs which begins July 29th.
The Jets will be the host for the American Legion “B” state tournament starting Wednesday at Thorne-rider stadium.
NHSFR - The 2009 national high school finals rodeo got started last night in Farmington New Mexico five local kids are competing this year. Luke Camino from Clearmont was up in the first go in steer wrestling last night and finished 2nd in the performance with a time of 3.824 seconds two hundreths out of first place. They have two performances today, two tomorrow and one Wednesday which will finish up the first go.Still to compete over the next two days include Megan Belus from Buffalo in pole bending and breakaway roping, Nikki Bauman from Sheridan in goat tying and breakaway roping,Jake Gill from Wyola in tie down roping and Taylor Kelly from Sheridan in saddle bronc riding over 1500 kids from the US and Canada are competing in the national finals.
PRO POLO - The Flying “H” polo ranch season continues this week with more action Thursday and Saturday. This past Saturday team “Bendabout” defeated “The Villages”9-8 to win the “Century 21 cup”.matches this week will be Thursday afternoon at 1 pm, Friday at 4 o'clock they play the “Archie Macarty” kids cup sponsored by the Powder Horn and Saturday they play the “Bob Tate” memorial cup beginning at 1 o'clock.

UW/NFL - Former University of Wyoming tight end and super bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys Jay Novacek was among the inductees into the national college football hall of fame ceremony Saturday night in South Bend Indiana..Novacek played for Wyoming from 1982-84 in 1984 he set an NCAA record for most receiving yards by a tight end and was named to the All-American team. Novacek not only was a great football player in track and field at Wyoming he won the WAC decathlon title as well.
He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1985 played there five seasons before going to Dallas, during his time with Dallas he played on three super bowl winners Novacek officially retired from the NFL in 1997 other notable inductees in this year's class included all time great coaches Lou Holtz and John Cooper and players including Novacek teammate former UCLA and Dallas QB Troy Aikman. Novacek was inducted in the University of Wyoming hall of fame back in 1993.
