In professional rodeo we continue our preview of the 79th Sheridan wWYO rodeo with rodeo committee president Billy Craft it's been 15 years since the WYO started the progression of becoming one of the top rodeos in all the country. It all started in 1994 when the rodeo committee signed Sankey Pro rodeo as the stock contractor and the rest is history Craft says it was at that point the committee started a program of growth to make the WYO what it is in 2009.One of the most notable changes has been the added seating at the fair grounds Craft says it seems the more seats they were able to put in more fans filled those seats and Craft says long term, additional seating could be added to arena. The new seating took attendance from around 2500 to 4000 fans at each performance. The WYO features all the traditional events but one event makes our rodeo even more unique. Each performance starts with the running of the World championships of Indian relay racing Craft says it didn't take long for the relays to become a fan favorite.Rodeo action will get started next Wednesday morning at 7 am with steer roping slack they will also have slack thursday morning which will include tie down roping, team roping and steer wrestling.
